Why I’m ditching foundation |Foundation free make up routine

Beauty

Today’s post is a little bit of a different one, we’re talking about my skin, since I ever started wearing make up back in high school I have always worn foundation, powder and mascara. They were my first ever products I wore, I of course wear loads more now and look a lot more put together. I always felt like I needed to over my skin, my skin has good days and bad days, like everyone’s.

When I was on holiday last week I was tanning, and because I wear sunscreen on my face my face wasn’t matching the rest of my body, this meant it was then having to mix in darkening drops into my foundation in order to match.

Wearing foundation on holiday is just effort, normally it’s so hot you just feel like a melted mess, and why cover up just for a couple of hours in the evening, why not jus the foundation free the whole day.

I am only 6 days into not wearing any foundation, but I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. I am still getting spots, but parts of my face look a lot clearer and the texture looks so much better!

Saying “don’t wear foundation” is easier said than done, you still feel naked with a bare face, that’s where the Isle Of Paradise Tanning Drops come into play. In the evenings I like to mix these with my moisturiser and when I wake up I have a really natural looking tan, there for taking away the main reason I was wearing foundation. I find the drops even put my skin tone and do cover up a lot of old scaring making me more confident.

So now onto the make up I have been wearing and loving for the past week!

I begin with priming my skin because I still want my make up to last a long time and also a lot of primers are smoothing and make your skin look great like this one from Dermalogica.

I still want to add a bit of colour and shape to my face so I use a cream contour stick on my cheeks and on my forehead to add some depth. I love the medium/dark cream contour from Tanya Burr Cosmetics and the Illamasqua Gel Sculpt.

Now onto my favourite discovery, the Arkana I-Tech Glow loose powder, I apply this all over my face to set the the cream bronzer and to create a matte finish. This powder is however not completely matte, it really reminds me of the Hourglass Mineral Veil, it has a slight shimmer to it which gives your face a really natural glow.

I have then been loving using the Sephora bronzer in the shade Caledonia, in the winter this is way to orange for me, but with a tan it works perfectly!

Next up I use a blush, the one I have been using recently is Nars Orgasm as it adds a pop or colour and a glow.

I then finish my face with a sweep of the Pixi Glow on my cheek bones.

I have been keeping my brows pretty natural for a while now and just using L’Oréal Brow Plumper to add a little texture and to keep them in place.

Finally for the eyes I have been using the L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes, this creates really long thick lashes! Lastly I use this gorgeous palette from Memi which has the prettiest warm shades in it perfect for the summer!

Let me know how you feel about not wearing foundation.

The prettiest lipsticks | Winky Lux

Beauty

A while ago I was sent some new lipsticks from Winky Lux which is a new brand selling in Boots, these have to be some of the prettiest lipsticks I now own! The packaging alone is gorgeous and the actual product is so unique!

I was lucky enough to be sent a lip gloss, lipstick and a lip balm, I decided I would take these on holiday as I though they would make the perfect holiday lip products and they did.

Disco Kitten Gloss

Have you ever seen something so glittery and pink! This is a major throwback to the 90s lip product, back to your childhood days! Unfortunately this is the one product I have yet to actually wear because I haven’t felt brave enough to rock a glitter lip! It is really pigmented and so glittery!

Lip Velour in the shade Heart

Pretty much all year round red is my go to lip shade, I love a red lip so finding new ones to add to my collection is just great. I think a really unique thing about the Winky Lux products is the size, they are much small and more compact than a tradition lipstick. This makes it so much easier to stick in your handbag and be able to use on the go. I wore this one night on holiday and found the lipstick was really easy to apply, it was really creamy and blended well, I’m sure it would of lasted a long time but I had to take off before I ate or I would of looked like a clown!

Winky Lux Glimmer Balm

I LOVE this balm so much! Basically I fell in love with the packaging, because how can you not, plus how beautiful is it on the inside! This is a colour changing lip balm which I believe changes shades on different people due to the ph levels on your lips. This is so easy to wear and just chuck on if your just spending the day at the pool or beach and want a bit of colour but not a full on lipstick. Even though it looks really glittery I didn’t find it came out to glittery on my lips which is good because I don’t want to look like a disco ball!

Everyday Beauty Heroes

Beauty

Today I’m sharing my everyday beauty essentials, these are products which I reach for near enough on a daily basis either when getting ready in the morning or getting ready for bed.

Dry Shampoo

I’m 99% sure dry shampoo or a substitute (talc) features in every girls morning process, if there is one thing I can’t stand it is greasy looking hair. As I use oil in my hair after washing my hair looks greasy by the morning, so dry shampoo is a staple.

Perfume

Another item I’m sure exists in everyone’s routine is the spritzing of perfume or a body spray, who doesn’t want to smell nice the whole day and receive compliments? My go to perfumes for smelling amazing are Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh, this is a fresh floral scent which lingers for the whole day! My second pick is Wanderlust by Michael Kors which is a warm woody smell, this one will be particularly  great for summer!

Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm

For the past few weeks I have been using the beauty balm as an extra moisturiser over night, I like to apply it to places which needs some extra loving such as under my eyes, around my nose, lips and on my forehead. The smell really reminds me of a spa, which makes it great for applying just before getting into bed as I find it relaxing.

Plum & Ashley Honey & Jojoba Oil Handcream

Hand cream is a fairly new addition to my beauty routine, but I figured I should take care of the skin on my hands as they probably take the most battering from the weather. I have been using this one from Plum & Ashley as I find it really hydrating, it rubs in easily and the smell is not to over powering.

Skin + Earth Face Scrub

In order to keep my skin looking glowy, fresh and rejuvenated I like to use a face scrub 2 – 3 times a week to get rid of dead skin cells and get the blood pumping. This face scrub from Skin + Earth is all natural and it feels so great on my skin!

Do you have any beauty essentials? Let me know in the comments.

The cutest cake shop | Peggy Porschen

Beauty

Hey Everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and enjoyed the time relaxing with family and friends and eating your way into a food coma. Today I thought I would share some photos of the gorgeous cake shop that is Peggy Porschen in London.

While I was in London last week with my best friend we went along to Peggy’s as she had never been before and I love the place! It was so cute and festive with all the pink and white decorations (which go great with my instagram feed) and ofcourse all the yummy cakes they make!

As this was a little Christmas treat we both decided to get a cake and a hot drink, I opted for the Red Velvet Cupcake (which I had last time) and Nicola opted for the Caramel Layer Cake. Ofcourse both were delicious and finished off within minutes, after the mini photo shoot!

Peggy Porschen’s is truely a lovely well run little business which definitely deserves loads of love, so next time your in London head along and try it! And don’t be put of by the queue either, surprisingly it goes down fairly quickly!

And finally, if you visit on a cold winters day don’t let that put you off sitting outside, they give you a blanket to keep warm which is super sweet!

What’s in the box? Cohorted December Box

Beauty

Hello and welcome back to day 16 of blogmas and December! Less than 10 days now until the big day! Today’s blogpost is a review of the Cohorted December box which was kindly gifted to me!

The Cohorted Box always looks so sleek and stylish and it’s such a treat to see what’s inside! I feel like this box could never disappoint, especially considering the box is worth 3 times as much as what you pay for it!

Cargo Emerald City Palette £35

This is the first palette I’ve seen from Cargo, my first impressions are how festive it is! The green is such a beautiful colour, although these really aren’t my shades which makes me really sad! But the names of each shadow is perfect, it made me super happy and nostalgic when I realised they are names after places in Seattle which is one of my favourite cities!

Tarte Tartiest Glossy Lip Paint £21

When I saw this in the box I screamed a little bit with happiness, I have wanted to try anything from Tate for the longest time! This is in the shade Obvi and it’s a really nice warmed toned peachy nude! I love wearing a nude lip for work so this will be perfect!

Eyeko Liquid Liner

This is a really cute compact black liquid eye liner from Eyeko which is a fairly expensive brand so it’s nice to be able to try out a smaller size before buying a full-size. I love the idea and the look of winged liner but I cannot do it for the life of me! I want to be able to, but I just cannot do it! So I probably won’t get much use out of this, although I will have a practice!

Becca Cosmetics Shadow & Light Brow Contour Mousse £18

Initially when I saw this little pot I thought it was an eye shadow, but no, it’s eye brow mousse! I have been using this non stop since receiving the box and am obsessed with it! This definitely has to be the star of the box! It creates really precise strokes and it’s really easy to build up or have really natural brows! Definitely my favourite product of the box and I will get so much use out of it!

What do you think of this box?

What to do between Christmas and New Year

Beauty

This is the question I’m sure everyone asks and is thinking about, I work in a school so I have the whole of the festive period off, but this means I need to make the most of it and do something every day. But of course, the 4 and a bit days between Christmas ending and NYE we all need some motivation to get up and go somewhere instead of lounging around eating chocolate and left over food whilst watching more Christmas movies. I have come up with some ideas (mainly for myself to look back on and do) of what do on those days where your going stir crazy sat in front of he tv for yet another day.

Go for a walk

Nothing beats going for a wintery walk!

Movie day

Invite your friends around, watch some movies, eat some chocolate and mince pies!

Sale Shopping

If you feel like your ready to battle the sales, then heading into the shops is good idea to get some real bargains!

Visit your closest city

Heading into your nearest city for the final Christmassy vibes before the January blues!

Have a pamper day

Pamper days are my answer for everything, enjoy an afternoon pampering yourself, do a face mask, run a bath and just relax.

Plan your 2018

Plan what you want to do/achieve and where you want to go!

Go ice skating

There are some really gorgeous ice skating rinks around these days, especially in London at the Natural History Museum and Tower of London!

Clean & Sort

Having some free time before the end of the year is a great time to declutter and tidy all your belongings!

Go on a trip

Go for a night away anywhere and explore!

Bake

Find some really yummy things to bake in a cooking book or on Pinterest!

Hope these have given you some ideas of what to do, I will definitely be doing most of these while I’m off work!

Bourjois Influenster Box

Beauty

When this little box turned up on my doorstep I was rather excited, this is the second box I have revived free from Influenster. Influenster is a website (app) where you can review your favourite products and you can get picked to review brands by receiving the products free. This box contains some rather lovely Bourjois goodies which all look amazing!

When I opened the box I really did not expect to see this many products! I have only ever tried on concealer from Bourjois and that was it, now I have had a full chance to try loads! The box contained a foundation, concealer, blusher, mascara and 3 metallic lip creams.

The foundation has been on my list to try for quite a while, but I’m always hesitant about trying new foundations because I need them to last and hold up throughout the day. I was so presently surprised after trying this one out!

It has really good coverage and blends lovely, it doesn’t even look like you have foundation on which I really like. The bottle says it lasts for 16 hours, but I have only tried it for about 10 hours and I’m pretty impressed with it. I have been wearing it every day for work since receiving it instead of my trusty Mac foundation and don’t plan on switching back any time soon.

They also sent the matching concealer which once again I am really impressed with. I already own the Radiance Reveal concealer and love that, this one lives up to the same high standards!

This mascara is my go to right now, it’s the only one I’ve been using for about 3 weeks! It gives so much volume and length and makes your lashes look like supermodels!

The eye shadow palette is really pretty and I love concept of only have a few shades but I tend to stay away from cool tones, that being said I have worn this once so far and I didn’t totally hate it on me. With a little bit of a warm toned brown added I can make it work for me!

The metallic lip creams are less up my street, I would have much preferred the lipsticks instead because I just won’t get the wear out of these. I may wear the pink one over Christmas but dont hold me to it!

The product itself is really soft and they glide on really easy making for great application.

Have you tried anything from Bourjois?

Mini Christmas Lush Haul

Beauty

Welcome back again! I’m on a roll with blogging and am loving it again! I finally got around to paying Lush a visit and picking up two Christmas goodies!

Lush is always one of my favourite shops to visit, shopping online just doesn’t to it justice! I love that you can smell it before you see it and that instantly drawers you in and makes you spend spend spend.

Going into Lush can be quite over whelming so it’s best to do your research and figure out what you want before you go. I had been going onto their website weekly trying to make my mind up about what I needed.

I ended up buying the very traditional Snow Fairy shower gel which I get every year, this is the best smelling shower gel in the world! It’s a really mouthwatering smell, and it makes you want to actually just lick the bottle when your using it.

As I love the smell of Snow Fairy so much I knew that I had to buy the Snow Fairy Jelly Bomb, this smells exactly the same! My room also now smells amazing because the smell is so strong it travels! I have never had this bomb before so I’m really looking forward to using on my Christmas Eve pamper night!

What are your favourite things to pick up from Lush?

Stocking Filler Ideas

Beauty

This is the one and only gift guide type post I am doing this year, I really have no idea what to buy anyone but I managed to come up with a few items which would easily make really cute stocking fillers.

Personally, I have picked out everything which I would love to receive in a stocking and as I still insist that my mum makes me a stocking I have guided her along the same lines as this guide. Christmas can’t be Christmas without being cosy and warm so I picked out two pair of cute slippers from Primark, these are between £3 and £3.50 so they make the perfect little gift. Going along with a cosy night in, hot chocolate makes for the perfect festive drink and when shopping for all your festive food this may be something you over look yourself! Ofcourse whilst your drinking chocolate you should be eating it aswell, so chocolate makes for perfect little pieces especially to snack on Christmas morning.

Candles are another essential, Yankee Candles especially male for the perfect gift as their small, smell great and look cute! They are also great for when you want a festive smell but don’t want a huge jar candle that takes months to burn.

A cute or festive phone case is great for anyone who likes to switch up their style and maybe try something a little more snazzier for Christmas. I love the rose gold diamond case from Shop Love Cases, this is so sparkly and festive and will add a pop of glam to an outfit. I then have also picked out a really cute Santa case which is from EBay, this is the perfect fun Christmas case!

Gift cards are another really good gift if you don’t really know what to buy, you can buy gift cards for many shops so the possibilities are endless.

Next up I have picked out a few skincare products which make great gifts, what better gift than a pamper product!

I absolutely love the What’s in it for me Body Scrub and I’m sure everyone else will love it too! It’s the smell which makes this product as real staple in my routine and such a lovely product to use as a treat. Another great smelling product is the Bilou Shower Foam, this is a really cute product which smells great and is a little bit more unique than a normal shower gel.

Ofcourse I can’t do a gift guide without my favourite skin care product, face masks. I have picked out two face masks from the brand Janna, these are really great because you can get them to suit the person your buying them for.

A pretty glitter nail polish is always a great gift to receive, my favourite glitters are by Barry M and Tanya Burr Cosmetics. Glittery nail polish is a great way to add a pop is shimmer to your wintery look.

And finally some of my favourite products from Glossier. These are for the true beauty lover, buying anyone a flavour of the Balmdotcom will get you in the good books, all the flavours are lovely and the product is really good! I have also been obsessed with the Milky Jelly Cleanser, this is more on the expensive side of the cleaners but definitely good for a treat.

What’s on your list?

Follow me: Morning Coffee & car disaster

Beauty

Hello everyone, today’s blogpost was supposed to be super festive and fun with loads of pretty photos but instead it didn’t end up that way, it ended up with a ride in the back of a police car! Keep reading to find out what happened.

First up of course is the whole getting ready bit in the morning, when I wake up the first thing I do is my skin care routine. I like to do this first so my moisturiser has time to sink in before I apply my makeup.

To cleanse my face I used the Milky Jelly Cleanser from Glossier followed by the Tea Tree toner by The Body Shop as I was suffering from a few pesky spots. And then I applied a couple of drops of the Generation Skin serum which contains Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea and Aloe which will help my skin out on days like today. I then finished with the Olay moisturiser as this had spf 15 and I wanted to some protection from the uv rays this day as it was a beautiful winters day.

Breakfast time, my favourite part of the morning. Normally I have my favourite poached eggs on toast but as I was having more food an hour later I decided just to have crumpets with jam and gingerbread latte.

Makeup

For my make up I used all the face and eye products which is received free from Bourjois in the Infuenster Box last month.

Luton Hoo

I treated my Mum to morning coffee at Luton Hoo as part of her birthday present, I picked French toast and bacon off the breakfast meant and it was heaven! Although a little on the expensive side it still tasted amazing!

After eating, relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere we went for a walk around the grounds which never disappoints.

The grounds are so beautiful.

We walked around finding hiding arches which over looked the countryside.

Here is the beautiful house!

Our next stop was supposed to be a really festive garden centre called Frosts, but as I was driving my car started making a really bad sound. As I had never heard this sound before I was conceded so we pulled over in a lay-by.

When I got out the car I notice a liquid leaking from under my car, I attempted to get the bonnet up to check the oil but was unsuccessful as it was stuck and wouldn’t budge. After seeking advice from a mechanic we decided to carry on driving.

Not even 2 minutes down the road, my bonnet flew up and hit my windscreen and proceeded to stay up making it near impossible to see! The sound was so loud it literally sounded like something huge had hit my car, but it was just the bonnet hitting the windscreen.

Luckily I was able to pull over on the side of dual carriage way safely. When I got out the car I had to use all my strength to get the bonnet back down as the hinges had bent upwards, there was also a huge dent right in the middle of bonnet so it would not close. This meant we could no drive it.

My mum had to run back to SOS point and use that phone to report it, they were not very helpful at all, they said they were sending the police because of where we were but they didn’t send any other help.

After an hour two police cars turned up to try and help, the plan was to move my car to a lay-by on a parallel road, but first they had to do some problem solving.

To make matters worse neither of us were in the AA or RAC, but luckily you can actually sign up on the day. Although the first time I rang the man from the AA said he can’t do anything until the police have moved it.

I then had to make a second phone call back to AA and sign up, the lady I spoke to this time told me they didn’t do recoveries! Which is of course a lie, because as I told the police that, a AA tow truck drove past us! After nearly 40 minutes on the phone to the AA I had signed up and had a repair vehicle on the way.

The police moved my car to the parallel road, and my mum and I got to ride in the police car around to that road! First time for either of us in the back of a police car!

Once the police left it was another hour and a half until the AA turned up, they kept pushing their response time further and further away.

Also, I forget to mention but the temperature was 2degrees during the afternoon and 1 degree in the evening so we were freezing by the point we actually got rescued!

The AA man was able to wire my bonnet shut, start my car back up and followed us home, but as I was driving the lights on my speedometer had gone out so I couldn’t see what speed I was going, it turned out that my back lights also went out aswell.

We eventually got home 4 and half hours later, cold and our spirits dampened.

Have you had any car disasters?

Thanks for reading,

What’s in the Box: Cohorted November Box

Beauty

Hello lovelies, today is a very exciting blog post indeed, well for me it is because Cohorted asked if they could send me their November Beauty Box to review on my blog! Of course I said yes, jumping at the chance to work with an amazing company, and we all love a subscription box don’t we! So here is everything you need to know about the Cohorted Beauty Box…

Cohorted is a monthly beauty subscription box which is £35 per month (if you sign up now, you’ll receive your first one in January). The total value of my the box I received was £109 which is amazing as you can see a lot of full sized products. Compared to other subscription boxes this one looks and feels a lot more high end, the packaging is really sleek and compliments the products in the box greatly.

Plum & Ashby Honey & Jojoba Hand Cream £15

First up in the box is this beautiful hand cream, which smells as good as it looks! I don’t tend to use a lot of hand cream because I find the smells over powering and they tend to make me sneeze, but this one has a really natural subtle smell which is perfect especially if you put it on before bed.

Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Multi Correcting Cream 5ml x 2 £20

These types of mini creams are perfect for travelling, your able to still stick to your skincare routine but also able to stick to the liquid allowance on your flight. I will definitely be packing these for my trip to Paris in January!

New CID I-intense Mascara £20

Next up is a very chic mascara from the brand New CID which I have never heard of before, but looking at the price it seems to be a high end mascara. The mascara is richly pigmented and builds volume whilst separating lashes.

Too Faced Melted Liquefied Longwear Lipstick £19

Seeing this little beauty in the box made me jump for joy, I have wanted one of these lipsticks for quite a while now! This is in the shade Melted Coral, it is a really beautiful orange coral shade which will be beyond perfect for the summer months.

And finally, a brightening light reflective primer from Figs & Rouge and is the most expensive product in the box. I have only tested this primer out once, but boy did it make face glow! This will be an amazing primer for the holiday season making your foundation glow from within creating a really healthy look. It also does so many other amazing this to your skin such as, neutralise redness, minimise large pores, anti-inflammatory and colour correcting! This will definitely be a staple in my make up bag for my Christmas parties!

I want to say a huge thank you to Cohorted for sending me this box and allowing me try so many new products!

Thanks for reading, see you tomorrow for another post!

15 things to do this December

Beauty

Today’s blogpost is all about giving you some ideas of what to do this month and a list for me to try and tick of as and when I do them. I’m hoping I can do all of these things this month and hope you can too!

  1. Go to a Christmas Tree Farm and pick your tree I did this last year and it wasn’t exactly what I expected, I thought it would be like in the movies, where you pick your tree and chop it. But I still managed to find a cute little patch of untouched Christmas trees to get some photos with.
  2. Decorate your tree This obviously goes without saying!
  3. Attend a Christmas party (or two) I have two Christmas parties to go to this year which I am super excited about!
  4. Rock a red lip If your anything like me then you’ll be in a red lip near enough anytime you leave the house, there is no other time of year when a red lip is acceptable for even a trip to Asda!
  5. Eat your weight in Camembert I think I discovered this amazing cheese last year and I got a little obsessed with it. I love dipping in French Stick and peppers!
  6. Drink your weight in hot chocolate covered in marshmallows and whipped cream Another obvious one, there are so many different flavours of hot chocolate out there now, you could even try a new one daily!
  7. Take a walk Blow the cobwebs away, this one is a great one to do inbetween Christmas and New Year to get you out of the house and walking off your Christmas dinner.
  8. Go to a Christmas market This is the one I am most likely to not be able to tick off as there is no local market near to me. But Christmas markets are super fun, even if you don’t buy anything they are still super festive and cute!
  9. Spend a day watching Christmas movies Have a day where you do nothing but watch movies and ofcourse eat Christmasy treats! The Christmas channel is my go to for the whole of December as there is always a sweet festive movie on.
  10. Make cookies There is nothing more cosy than baking in your kitchen and the smell radiating throughout the house of freshly baked cookies.
  11. Plan a Christmas party This year I took it upon myself to plan a Christmas meal for my department at work, it’s been so much fun planning and organising.
  12. Create a Christmas Eve snuggle box This is pretty much a box full of essentials for the night, from cosy pjs and socks to candles and face masks!
  13. Spend a Sunday morning in bed with a Ginger Bread Latte reading a book Ginger Bread Lattes are my obsession from November onwards so drinking one of them in bed reading Tanya’s Christmas is a great way of getting in the spirit.
  14. Wrap your presents with Christmas music on as loud as it can go This goes without saying, surely?
  15. Head to Starbucks (or Costa) for a festive drink I am a little obsessed with gingerbread lattes and pumpkin spice so any chance I have I will be drinking one.

What’s in your list of things to do this festive season? Let me know in the comments and be sure to follow me on Instagram so you don’t miss out @toriiitoriii
