Everyday makeup routine

Beauty

I feel like I am pretty set in my ways when it comes to my everyday makeup routine, I tend to use the same set of products and do it all in a certain order and never really switch it up. So here is is my daily make up for work, it generally takes me about 20-25 minutes to slowly apply it all and be ready.

The first thing I do is prime my face, I have been using the Makeup Revolution Pore Blur recently, this has a very silicone feel to it and it makes my skin feel really smooth and soft afterwards.

Once my base is done, I then go and apply my mascara, I have to do this before I do any more of my face make up because I make such a mess no matter what. I have been using the Natural Collection waterproof mascara as I picked it up on a whim, decided to try it out, and low and behold it’s actually really good.

After I have cleaned up all the mascara which is on my face, I apply my foundation. I have just ran out of my favourite one, so I am going to give the Revlon Colourstay* a go for a while and see how I get on with it. To conceal under my eyes I have been using the Thin Lizzy concealer* as this is pretty full coverage.

To set my make up in place I use the MUA Cosmetics loose translucent powder. I then bronze my face using a bronzer from MUA Cosmetics which was only £1, such a bargain. Followed by the Zoella x Colourpop blush which is super pretty.

To add some highlight to my face I have been using a highlighter stick from Natural Collection which is very similar to Glossier Haloscope Quartz, so I am super happy to have found a dupe for it!

Finally for my brows I use the HD brow pencil from Sainsburys to define my brows and Loreal Brow Plumper to set them in place.

The three tans I’m loving this summer

Beauty

This summer I have really been enjoying faking my tan, I have been sent so many fake tans I figured I would test them all out over the summer and I have found my top 3.

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Mousse

I really like this self tanner because it is really easy and really quick to use, much like the other 3. To apply this one you do need a tanning mit, it’s so easy to apply all over your body and you can see an instant change in colour. I wore this one whilst I was still at work and I got so many compliments about it, about how natural it looked!

Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops

The Isle of Paradise drops are super handy for tanning your face, just apply a few drops to your night moisturiser and you’ll wake up to a tanned face. It doesn’t look orange and it doesn’t look fake, it gives you a really natural glow and when I use them I feel like I can get away with no foundation that day. I don’t find that the colour last that long, probably because I exfoliate everyday. You can also mix these into your body moisturisers also.

Norvell Ultra Vivid Gradual Tan

I think out of all the tans I prefer this one, I love that you don’t need to wear a tanning kit to apply it, I love that you can see the colour and you instantly looked tanned and I love that it’s such a big bottle! The colour which develops is also super natural and doesn’t look orange, it looks much more like a natural sun tan, brown rather than umpa lumpa. This one looks a little scary at first when you apply it as it look really dark, but that blends out. Also, I feel like this is the only tan out of the three that does not smell! Even though the others say they don’t smell like self tan, they do!

What are you favourite tans? Xx

Summer Lovin’ Makeup Routine

Beauty

This summer I have really tried to stay away from heavy make up, I recently wrote a post on why I’m ditching foundation, but the reality is, that I only ditch foundation when I’m 100% happy with how my skin is looking, as soon as I have an spot or three my foundation makes it way back into my makeup up. So here is my current go to make up look for summer…

In the summer especially I was really gooey natural looking skin, the primer I have found that is perfect for this is the Figs & Rouge Light Reflefting Brightening Primer & Illuminator. This is a very golden primer which makes your skin glow like a disco ball instantly. I like to follow that with my trusty Mac Studio Fix Foundation. I only apply a tiny amount and blend it over my face just to even out my skin tone, I don’t go on thick and heavy and cake it on, because I know that does not work for my skin nor does it look good! If I have a tan and my foundation doesn’t match, then I apply some darkening drops from The Body Shop.

For concealer I like to use Rimmel Wake Me Up, this is such a light weight concealer, I find this is the only one that doesn’t crease under my eyes.

Before I set my face with the Arkana I-Tech glow powder, I like to use a cream contour stick either from Tanya Burr Cosmetics or Illamasqua.

For powder bronzer I have been loving the Sephora bronzer in the shade Caledonia, I find this is the perfect shade for the summer when my skin is more tanned and warmer.

I have had the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette for over 2 years and I always forget to use because I keep it stored in my acrylic drawers so it doesn’t get ruined, but that’s meant I’ve forgotten about it loads! So I’ve decided to keep it out and try and use it as much as I can, I love the blush shade Luminous Flush and the highlight shade Iridescent Light. They both create a really glowy natural look which looks perfect for the summer.

The mascara I have been obsessed with is the L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes, this creates lots of length and volume and gives your lashes a natural curl.

On my brows I have been using the L’Oréal Brow Plumper, I recently decided to go a shade darker and use brown instead of blonde as I had it in my collection anyway and I love the way my brows look after using it!

I think most people will say Urban Decay Naked Heat is their chosen palette for the summer, it sure is mine! I am just obsessed with the warm shades!

And lastly a bright bold lip from Too Faced in the shade Melted Coral.

Why I’m ditching foundation |Foundation free make up routine

Beauty

Today’s post is a little bit of a different one, we’re talking about my skin, since I ever started wearing make up back in high school I have always worn foundation, powder and mascara. They were my first ever products I wore, I of course wear loads more now and look a lot more put together. I always felt like I needed to over my skin, my skin has good days and bad days, like everyone’s.

When I was on holiday last week I was tanning, and because I wear sunscreen on my face my face wasn’t matching the rest of my body, this meant it was then having to mix in darkening drops into my foundation in order to match.

Wearing foundation on holiday is just effort, normally it’s so hot you just feel like a melted mess, and why cover up just for a couple of hours in the evening, why not jus the foundation free the whole day.

I am only 6 days into not wearing any foundation, but I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. I am still getting spots, but parts of my face look a lot clearer and the texture looks so much better!

Saying “don’t wear foundation” is easier said than done, you still feel naked with a bare face, that’s where the Isle Of Paradise Tanning Drops come into play. In the evenings I like to mix these with my moisturiser and when I wake up I have a really natural looking tan, there for taking away the main reason I was wearing foundation. I find the drops even put my skin tone and do cover up a lot of old scaring making me more confident.

So now onto the make up I have been wearing and loving for the past week!

I begin with priming my skin because I still want my make up to last a long time and also a lot of primers are smoothing and make your skin look great like this one from Dermalogica.

I still want to add a bit of colour and shape to my face so I use a cream contour stick on my cheeks and on my forehead to add some depth. I love the medium/dark cream contour from Tanya Burr Cosmetics and the Illamasqua Gel Sculpt.

Now onto my favourite discovery, the Arkana I-Tech Glow loose powder, I apply this all over my face to set the the cream bronzer and to create a matte finish. This powder is however not completely matte, it really reminds me of the Hourglass Mineral Veil, it has a slight shimmer to it which gives your face a really natural glow.

I have then been loving using the Sephora bronzer in the shade Caledonia, in the winter this is way to orange for me, but with a tan it works perfectly!

Next up I use a blush, the one I have been using recently is Nars Orgasm as it adds a pop or colour and a glow.

I then finish my face with a sweep of the Pixi Glow on my cheek bones.

I have been keeping my brows pretty natural for a while now and just using L’Oréal Brow Plumper to add a little texture and to keep them in place.

Finally for the eyes I have been using the L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes, this creates really long thick lashes! Lastly I use this gorgeous palette from Memi which has the prettiest warm shades in it perfect for the summer!

Let me know how you feel about not wearing foundation.

Summer Ready Bodycare

Beauty

Happy Summer!

Im sure were all at the point now where we just want a constant bit of sunshine in our lives and I’m getting pretty fed up with trying really hard to get a natural tan and then it fading from the lack of sun!

Today I am sharing my summer body care essentials which I am currently using to keep my body feeling good and sun kissed even in the cloudy British weather.

First up in the shower I have been loving the Nivea Love Sunshine shower gel, this was gifted to me as part of an ad I did for Nivea over on my Instagram, but I loved the smell of it so much I went and bought myself a back up and one for my mum. This really does smell just like summer and suncream and brings back so many memories from summer holidays.

I have also been fake tanning quite a lot recently so I don’t look like an unhealthy ghost whilst I’m at work in shorts, so in order to get a nice even I have been loving using two scrubs. The first is a Zoella scrub which is really bitty and so exfoliating, I love the fact that this is really solid as it feels like it is getting rid of any dead skin and freshening my skin right up. And the second is a new scrub from What’s in it for me, this literally smells amazing! This one is the opposite of the Zoella one though, it is much more liquidy which makes it more of a wash than an actually scrub in my eyes.

When I get out the shower before I tan I like to add some moisturiser to dry bits like my knees and ankles so I don’t get any dodgy bits when the tan dries. The moisturiser I have been using lately is the Wondrous Whip by Zoella.

Finally for my body, the Rimmel Sun Shimmer Tan, this leaves instant colour but develops to a darker colour over a few hours. I do find that with this one I do need to shower the next day I order to get rid of the excess tan. I made the mistake of not shower the day after applying this and going to a trampoline park and my sweat was orange, luckily no one else noticed!

And finally in order to smell like summer I spritz myself in Summer Sun from Next which smells like summer in a bottle!

What are your go to summer bits?

Everyday Beauty Heroes

Beauty

Today I’m sharing my everyday beauty essentials, these are products which I reach for near enough on a daily basis either when getting ready in the morning or getting ready for bed.

Dry Shampoo

I’m 99% sure dry shampoo or a substitute (talc) features in every girls morning process, if there is one thing I can’t stand it is greasy looking hair. As I use oil in my hair after washing my hair looks greasy by the morning, so dry shampoo is a staple.

Perfume

Another item I’m sure exists in everyone’s routine is the spritzing of perfume or a body spray, who doesn’t want to smell nice the whole day and receive compliments? My go to perfumes for smelling amazing are Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh, this is a fresh floral scent which lingers for the whole day! My second pick is Wanderlust by Michael Kors which is a warm woody smell, this one will be particularly  great for summer!

Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm

For the past few weeks I have been using the beauty balm as an extra moisturiser over night, I like to apply it to places which needs some extra loving such as under my eyes, around my nose, lips and on my forehead. The smell really reminds me of a spa, which makes it great for applying just before getting into bed as I find it relaxing.

Plum & Ashley Honey & Jojoba Oil Handcream

Hand cream is a fairly new addition to my beauty routine, but I figured I should take care of the skin on my hands as they probably take the most battering from the weather. I have been using this one from Plum & Ashley as I find it really hydrating, it rubs in easily and the smell is not to over powering.

Skin + Earth Face Scrub

In order to keep my skin looking glowy, fresh and rejuvenated I like to use a face scrub 2 – 3 times a week to get rid of dead skin cells and get the blood pumping. This face scrub from Skin + Earth is all natural and it feels so great on my skin!

Do you have any beauty essentials? Let me know in the comments.

What’s in the box? Cohorted December Box

Beauty

Hello and welcome back to day 16 of blogmas and December! Less than 10 days now until the big day! Today’s blogpost is a review of the Cohorted December box which was kindly gifted to me!

The Cohorted Box always looks so sleek and stylish and it’s such a treat to see what’s inside! I feel like this box could never disappoint, especially considering the box is worth 3 times as much as what you pay for it!

Cargo Emerald City Palette £35

This is the first palette I’ve seen from Cargo, my first impressions are how festive it is! The green is such a beautiful colour, although these really aren’t my shades which makes me really sad! But the names of each shadow is perfect, it made me super happy and nostalgic when I realised they are names after places in Seattle which is one of my favourite cities!

Tarte Tartiest Glossy Lip Paint £21

When I saw this in the box I screamed a little bit with happiness, I have wanted to try anything from Tate for the longest time! This is in the shade Obvi and it’s a really nice warmed toned peachy nude! I love wearing a nude lip for work so this will be perfect!

Eyeko Liquid Liner

This is a really cute compact black liquid eye liner from Eyeko which is a fairly expensive brand so it’s nice to be able to try out a smaller size before buying a full-size. I love the idea and the look of winged liner but I cannot do it for the life of me! I want to be able to, but I just cannot do it! So I probably won’t get much use out of this, although I will have a practice!

Becca Cosmetics Shadow & Light Brow Contour Mousse £18

Initially when I saw this little pot I thought it was an eye shadow, but no, it’s eye brow mousse! I have been using this non stop since receiving the box and am obsessed with it! This definitely has to be the star of the box! It creates really precise strokes and it’s really easy to build up or have really natural brows! Definitely my favourite product of the box and I will get so much use out of it!

What do you think of this box?

15 things to do this December

Beauty

Today’s blogpost is all about giving you some ideas of what to do this month and a list for me to try and tick of as and when I do them. I’m hoping I can do all of these things this month and hope you can too!

  1. Go to a Christmas Tree Farm and pick your tree I did this last year and it wasn’t exactly what I expected, I thought it would be like in the movies, where you pick your tree and chop it. But I still managed to find a cute little patch of untouched Christmas trees to get some photos with.
  2. Decorate your tree This obviously goes without saying!
  3. Attend a Christmas party (or two) I have two Christmas parties to go to this year which I am super excited about!
  4. Rock a red lip If your anything like me then you’ll be in a red lip near enough anytime you leave the house, there is no other time of year when a red lip is acceptable for even a trip to Asda!
  5. Eat your weight in Camembert I think I discovered this amazing cheese last year and I got a little obsessed with it. I love dipping in French Stick and peppers!
  6. Drink your weight in hot chocolate covered in marshmallows and whipped cream Another obvious one, there are so many different flavours of hot chocolate out there now, you could even try a new one daily!
  7. Take a walk Blow the cobwebs away, this one is a great one to do inbetween Christmas and New Year to get you out of the house and walking off your Christmas dinner.
  8. Go to a Christmas market This is the one I am most likely to not be able to tick off as there is no local market near to me. But Christmas markets are super fun, even if you don’t buy anything they are still super festive and cute!
  9. Spend a day watching Christmas movies Have a day where you do nothing but watch movies and ofcourse eat Christmasy treats! The Christmas channel is my go to for the whole of December as there is always a sweet festive movie on.
  10. Make cookies There is nothing more cosy than baking in your kitchen and the smell radiating throughout the house of freshly baked cookies.
  11. Plan a Christmas party This year I took it upon myself to plan a Christmas meal for my department at work, it’s been so much fun planning and organising.
  12. Create a Christmas Eve snuggle box This is pretty much a box full of essentials for the night, from cosy pjs and socks to candles and face masks!
  13. Spend a Sunday morning in bed with a Ginger Bread Latte reading a book Ginger Bread Lattes are my obsession from November onwards so drinking one of them in bed reading Tanya’s Christmas is a great way of getting in the spirit.
  14. Wrap your presents with Christmas music on as loud as it can go This goes without saying, surely?
  15. Head to Starbucks (or Costa) for a festive drink I am a little obsessed with gingerbread lattes and pumpkin spice so any chance I have I will be drinking one.

What’s in your list of things to do this festive season? Let me know in the comments and be sure to follow me on Instagram so you don’t miss out @toriiitoriii

What’s in it for me? Body Scrub Review

Beauty

Hello and welcome back, I am totally slacking on the November content as I am just so ready for blogmas and Christmas now! But today’s post is about a little brand called What’s in it for me?

They have kindly sent me another product to try out this month, last time I received the Body Cleanser and this time it’s the scrub. All of their products are packaged perfectly to look amazing in your shower but also hard wearing (the words on the bottle/tub don’t rub off). I also like how simple the packaging is, it really makes you focus more on what is inside rather than how it looks on the outside.

As for the product, as soon as you take the lid off the smell hits you and your mouth will start watering! It literally is that good, I have been raving about it over on Instagram @toriiitoriii every time I use it! To me, it smells like a fruit salad sweet, I’m pretty sure you could eat this (well, maybe not) but it certainly smells good enough to eat.

I use this Body Scrub once a week, mainly on Saturday nights when I do my full face and body pamper routine. I scoop out a small hand full and massage it into wet skin and it gets a slight lather, you can feel the sea salts massaging your skin and making you skin feel fresher and alive. Of course, the whole time I’m using it my mouth is salivating from the smell!

The scrubs itself is to exfoliate, warm, detoxify and enhance circulation, these benefits are wonderful especially in the colder months.

After using the product you don’t even feel like you’ve been harsh on your skin, it’s not left sore or dry, and in some cases when in a little bit lazy (and it’s freezing cold in my room) I ditch putting on moisturiser!

Overall the What’s in it for me Products are becoming a staple to my shower routine! You can purchase your own from Harvey Nichols and Fragrance Direct.

What’s in my make up bag | week 1

Beauty

Starting this week I have decided to do a blogpost dedicated to my make up that I’ve worn the week before hand and share my thoughts on the products.

Base

My go to primer for many weeks has been from The Ordinary. I love The Ordinary products so I was intrigued to see how this Primer works compared to my other go to’s. As you can see I am nearly at the end of this tube, but have no fear, I have two more back ups! I love the way this Primer feels, it really reminds me of the Benefit Porefessional but way cheaper!

I have not switched up my foundation in ages, and to be honest I don’t really want to! I’ve found a good primer and foundation and they work well for me, so why change? I use the shade NC15 in Mac Studio Fix Fluid during the winter months when I’m not tanned and it’s the perfect match!

As for under eye concealer my go to the past week has been Rimmel Wake Me Up. This is really hydrating and brightening and I need waking up as we still have another week to go until October half term!

Cream Contour has been my go to favourite thing to do, I just love adding extra colour and shoe back into my face. My go to the past week has been from Seventeen, you can see it’s well loved (I have a back up, don’t worry!).

Powders

I always set my face using Rimmel Stay Matte but I never include that in my routines as it’s not very interesting. For my bronzer and blush I have been using the Steven Klein Palette from Nars. The bronzer is in the shade Laguna and the blush is in the shade Dolce Vita. These are really warm shades and perfect for fall. And for highlight I’ve been using Champagne Sorbet by Tanya Burr Cosmetics as it gives a really natural golden glow.

Eyes & Brows

For mascara I have been using the one and only Loreal Paradise Exatic Mascara which is the best mascara I own! It is so easy to use and build up volume and length without going clumpy!

And finally for my brows I really love using powders as I find them much easier to work with and they create a more natural look. My chosen one for last week was from the ELF Brow kit in the shade medium. I then set my brows with Loreal Brow Plumper, I’ve used a few brows over the past few weeks but this is the only one which actually keeps my brows groomed!

Come back next week for the second part of what’s I my make up bag!

How I look after my skin on holiday | 1 night away with hand luggage only

Beauty

Good morning!

Today’s blogpost is going to be all about how I still look after my skin on holiday and still use 90% of the same products abroad as I would t home. This post is specifically for 1 night away with hand luggage on a flight, so as your aware everything has to fit into one of those small clear plastic bags. I am huge skincare addict so it’s very important to me that I still take care of my skin on holiday!

To begin with I like to make sure I’ve packed something which is going to be able to remove all my make up so my skin is 100% clean before doing anything else. I’ve heard great things about the Eve Lom cleanser so I’ve packed that to remove everything. Next I have an old Sephora face wash tube, this is refillable, at the moment it contains a small amount of the Loreal Clay Detox wash which was left over from my last trip. After washing I like to go in with a scrub to really freshen my skin up and give it a boost. I have chosen the Lancer Face Polish as it is a really good size and the product seems to be really good aswell. This one came in my #lfbeautybox this month. And finally for the cleansing part is a face mask from The Body Shop. This is the rose plumping mask so I thought this would be ideal for tired skin, as I normally end up waking up ridiculously early and not going to bed till really late on holiday I figured it would be perfect.

Next we’re on to toners, now ofcourse I can take the big bottles I use at home, so I transfer enough for one night into a little bottle. I picked these little bottles up which I was stuck in Tenerife in the summer and they are the perfect size for liquids! I have chosen to take the Tea Tree Toner from The Body Shop just incase I have any breakouts and the Glycolic Acid Toner from The Ordinary as I use this every night anyway so I don’t want to detour away from it.

Ofcourse it’s not a real good skincare routine unless I’m suing multiple masks. So I have decided to pack one of the new Soap and Glory sheet masks, this one is to add moisture back in your skin which is perfect after a flight as your skin gets really dehydrated. And to finish of the masks I have packed the Sunflower Under Eye Patches to just add a bit more hydration there.

And now onto the final leg of the skincare, I like to use an oil almost every night so I have packed a firming face oil from Monu Skin which also came in the #lfbeautybox this month followed my an eye cream from Superdrug. And to finish up moisturiser, to save even more space on one night trips I like to use sample sized moisturisers. I have packed theee just incase one isn’t enough, but I will be using the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream initially and then I will decide if I need more moisture. The samples are the perfect size for sliding in between everything else and take up barely any room!

What are your staples in your skincare routine when your on holiday? Let me know in the comments.

Fall Makeup Routine

Beauty

Today’s post is all about my fall makeup routine that I have been doing for the past couple of weeks.

My fall makeup routine starts off with my favourite primer from The Ordinary, I just love the way this feels on my skin and how long it makes my make up last! For my foundation I have gone a shade lighter so I’m now in the shade NC15 which is a perfect match. I then conceal under my eyes using the Rimmel Wale Me Up Concealer. This is brightening and so it’s perfect for those dull autumn days. And then to add a bit of colour into my face and some shape I use the cream bronzer from Seventeen. I use this on my forehead and on my cheeks.

On my cheeks I have been using Nars Laguna Bronzer which adds the slightest bit of shimmer to brighten your face up followed by the blush Dolce Vita which is a deeper toned blush perfect for autumn days. Finally on my cheeks I have been using a dusting of the Peonies Please from Tanya Burr Cosmetics. This is super pigmented and so you only need one swipe along your cheek bones.

On my eye lashes I have been using Loreal Lash Superstar which is a double ended Mascara so you can build up loads of volume and length.

As for the eyes, I wanted something really autumnal and bold so I picked the red shimmer shade from the MUA Cosmetics palette. It’s really pigmented, long lasting and looks great on! I then used a Colour Pop shadow in the shade Cornelius in the outer corner to blend it all together.

And for my brows I have been loving using the powder from the Elf Brow kit, it’s the perfect shade for me (medium) and it’s really easy to work with to create natural look brows. Then of course I set using Loreal Brow Plumper.

Finally, lips! To add a little bit of colour I like to use the Blackberry Coulis lip balm from Tanya Burr Cosmetics. And then to add even more colour the shade Amourous by Mac is a great shade for autumn!

What’s your go to make up for autumn?
