Why I’m ditching foundation |Foundation free make up routine

Beauty

Today’s post is a little bit of a different one, we’re talking about my skin, since I ever started wearing make up back in high school I have always worn foundation, powder and mascara. They were my first ever products I wore, I of course wear loads more now and look a lot more put together. I always felt like I needed to over my skin, my skin has good days and bad days, like everyone’s.

When I was on holiday last week I was tanning, and because I wear sunscreen on my face my face wasn’t matching the rest of my body, this meant it was then having to mix in darkening drops into my foundation in order to match.

Wearing foundation on holiday is just effort, normally it’s so hot you just feel like a melted mess, and why cover up just for a couple of hours in the evening, why not jus the foundation free the whole day.

I am only 6 days into not wearing any foundation, but I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. I am still getting spots, but parts of my face look a lot clearer and the texture looks so much better!

Saying “don’t wear foundation” is easier said than done, you still feel naked with a bare face, that’s where the Isle Of Paradise Tanning Drops come into play. In the evenings I like to mix these with my moisturiser and when I wake up I have a really natural looking tan, there for taking away the main reason I was wearing foundation. I find the drops even put my skin tone and do cover up a lot of old scaring making me more confident.

So now onto the make up I have been wearing and loving for the past week!

I begin with priming my skin because I still want my make up to last a long time and also a lot of primers are smoothing and make your skin look great like this one from Dermalogica.

I still want to add a bit of colour and shape to my face so I use a cream contour stick on my cheeks and on my forehead to add some depth. I love the medium/dark cream contour from Tanya Burr Cosmetics and the Illamasqua Gel Sculpt.

Now onto my favourite discovery, the Arkana I-Tech Glow loose powder, I apply this all over my face to set the the cream bronzer and to create a matte finish. This powder is however not completely matte, it really reminds me of the Hourglass Mineral Veil, it has a slight shimmer to it which gives your face a really natural glow.

I have then been loving using the Sephora bronzer in the shade Caledonia, in the winter this is way to orange for me, but with a tan it works perfectly!

Next up I use a blush, the one I have been using recently is Nars Orgasm as it adds a pop or colour and a glow.

I then finish my face with a sweep of the Pixi Glow on my cheek bones.

I have been keeping my brows pretty natural for a while now and just using L’Oréal Brow Plumper to add a little texture and to keep them in place.

Finally for the eyes I have been using the L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes, this creates really long thick lashes! Lastly I use this gorgeous palette from Memi which has the prettiest warm shades in it perfect for the summer!

Let me know how you feel about not wearing foundation.

The Lazy Girls Guide To Skincare

Beauty

Today’s post is a lazy girls guide to skincare, this is a quick and simple routine and you don’t even need to be lazy to do it, maybe if your constantly on the go or you’ve had a late night and all you want to do is get into bed.

Cleanse

Cleansing is the most important part! If you don’t take your make up off before you sleep, your skin cant breathe or repair itself so this is a very important step. To make sure all my make up is removed on a normal day when I have plenty of time and motivation to do my skincare routine, I would do a 2 step cleanse. But on a day where I want to be quick I would use a make up remover, such as The Body Shop Cleansing butter which you work into dry skin and massage all over your face and neck and it actually removes the majority of your makeup. A new cleanser in my collection is he Milky Jelly Cleanser from Glossier, this works great at removing make up when applied to a dry face so you don’t need to double cleanse if you don’t want too!

Tone

Now if your feeling lazy then you could skip toning, but I love toner as I think its a great way of just making sure your skin is clean and balancing it, to make it look and feel healthy. My go to toner at the moment for good looking skin is the Glycolic Acid Toner from The Ordinary.  This also exfoliates your skin, so its taking of any dead skin cells so your skin can regenerate and keep looking plump.

Moisturise

And finally, the next most important step after cleansing, moisturising. No matter what skin type you have, your skin needs moisture, even if your skin is oily! For a treat for my skin I would use a leave on moisture mask, this way you know your skin is still reaping the benefits of your routine even though you only spent a couple of minutes on it. My favourite leave on mask is the Vitamin E mask by Superdrug along with The Creme Shop Hyaluronic Acid Gel mask.

What does your skincare routine consist of? Do you spend hours doing it, or a couple of minutes? Let me know in the comments.

15 things to do this December

Beauty

Today’s blogpost is all about giving you some ideas of what to do this month and a list for me to try and tick of as and when I do them. I’m hoping I can do all of these things this month and hope you can too!

  1. Go to a Christmas Tree Farm and pick your tree I did this last year and it wasn’t exactly what I expected, I thought it would be like in the movies, where you pick your tree and chop it. But I still managed to find a cute little patch of untouched Christmas trees to get some photos with.
  2. Decorate your tree This obviously goes without saying!
  3. Attend a Christmas party (or two) I have two Christmas parties to go to this year which I am super excited about!
  4. Rock a red lip If your anything like me then you’ll be in a red lip near enough anytime you leave the house, there is no other time of year when a red lip is acceptable for even a trip to Asda!
  5. Eat your weight in Camembert I think I discovered this amazing cheese last year and I got a little obsessed with it. I love dipping in French Stick and peppers!
  6. Drink your weight in hot chocolate covered in marshmallows and whipped cream Another obvious one, there are so many different flavours of hot chocolate out there now, you could even try a new one daily!
  7. Take a walk Blow the cobwebs away, this one is a great one to do inbetween Christmas and New Year to get you out of the house and walking off your Christmas dinner.
  8. Go to a Christmas market This is the one I am most likely to not be able to tick off as there is no local market near to me. But Christmas markets are super fun, even if you don’t buy anything they are still super festive and cute!
  9. Spend a day watching Christmas movies Have a day where you do nothing but watch movies and ofcourse eat Christmasy treats! The Christmas channel is my go to for the whole of December as there is always a sweet festive movie on.
  10. Make cookies There is nothing more cosy than baking in your kitchen and the smell radiating throughout the house of freshly baked cookies.
  11. Plan a Christmas party This year I took it upon myself to plan a Christmas meal for my department at work, it’s been so much fun planning and organising.
  12. Create a Christmas Eve snuggle box This is pretty much a box full of essentials for the night, from cosy pjs and socks to candles and face masks!
  13. Spend a Sunday morning in bed with a Ginger Bread Latte reading a book Ginger Bread Lattes are my obsession from November onwards so drinking one of them in bed reading Tanya’s Christmas is a great way of getting in the spirit.
  14. Wrap your presents with Christmas music on as loud as it can go This goes without saying, surely?
  15. Head to Starbucks (or Costa) for a festive drink I am a little obsessed with gingerbread lattes and pumpkin spice so any chance I have I will be drinking one.

What’s in your list of things to do this festive season? Let me know in the comments and be sure to follow me on Instagram so you don’t miss out @toriiitoriii

Get glowing this winter

Beauty

Happy blogmas day 3! Today I am sharing with you my favourite make up items which help me glow throughout winter and the party season.

Glossier Haloscope

This is the newest highlight to my collection but it has quickly become my most worn, I have already written about this product in my November Favourites which went up on the 1st December so I wont waffle on too much. Basically, this is the most natural highlight, it looks like your skin is glowing from within, its not like a normal highlighter where you can see shimmer and glitter, this highlighter looks natural.

Fig & Rouge Illuminating Primer

This primer arrived in the Cohorted box for November which was very kindly sent to me, I had never heard of this brand before but was pleasantly surprised! The primer is literally gold and looks like it could be a highlighter on its own, it blends into the skin really nice and when foundation is applied on top it gives a really natural glow from within look.

Make Up Revolution Liquid Highlighter

This a more prominant in your face highlighter and is the complete opposite to the Glossier one. Literally swatching that on my hand just now made me feel like a glitter ball, this is definitelyone for christmas parties where you want to shimmer and glow.

Colour Pop Wisp and Over The Moon

Colour Pop is pretty well known for its amazing highlighters so i narrowed them down to two which I think will look great over the festive period. First up is the shade Wisp, this is a really gorgeous darker champagne colour, this is a pretty bold highlighter which i generally wouldnt wear unless I had a tan, but for a party it will be perfect. The second one is Over The Moon, this is the most out there highlighter I own, it is as if a unicorn has just licked your face and left behind glittery goodness. Once again, perfect for parties and making a statement.

Festive Lip Picks

Beauty

December is the month where a red lip is acceptable pretty much everyday and for every occasion. I have picked my top 5 (and most worn) red lip shades from my collection. I will ofcourse be living in a re flip throughout the whole month, make sure you check out my Instagram to see the ‘red lip of the day’.

11 things to do this autumn

Beauty

I love autumn, and I love winter, and I’m pretty sure I said I loved summer and spring at some point. But realistically I think I am more of an autumn winter kinda girl, summer was great when I used to spend it in California, but being in the UK kinda sucks so I’ve come to conclusion I cannot say I love summer the best. So here are 19 wonderful ideas to do this autumn, this is pretty much my to do list aswell so I can actually accomplish something and be productive and not just sit around doing nothing watching the leaves drop of the trees.

1. Go on autumnal walks There is nothing better than getting a bit of fresh air, so why not head out of your cosy warm house into the brisk autumnal air trapping though piles of leaves and enjoying the fall colours.

2. Get Baking Whether or not your a GBO fantatic baking doesn’t have to be hard, I recently came across pre made cookie dough in my local Asda. It’s so easy to use, just slice it and place it on a tray in the oven to get delicious smelling cookies (and house).

3. Go shopping I love seeing a new season in with a few new items in my wardrobe, it’s just makes planning outfits that little bit more fun. This year I have been loving Primark for all their knitwear and bobble hats!

4. Have (many) cosy nights in watching movies This one kind of explains itself. I will be doing a blogpost about my favourite shows to watch on a cosy day in next week.

5. Have a full on pamper session I have just put up a post earlier this week about my autumnal pamper picks so be sure to head over and check that out.

6. Drink a pumpkin spice latte (obvious I know) I was so late to the game this year, I didn’t get my PSL until the 30th September so I feel like I’ve missed out on it loads! But I’m sure I will be buying lots more before they go!

7. Add some cosyness to your room Fairy lights and candles add a real cosy feeling to your room, even having them on and burning on a full autumn day makes it feel so much nicer.

8. Buy a pumpkin and carve it (or just take photos with it) My dream is to go to a pumpkin patch and actually pick my own pumpkin but I can’t find anywhere near me, so buying one from a shop is the next closest thing!

9. Switch up your make up for autumn Nothing says autumn like a berry or dark lip!

10. Decorate your room for fall I am stocking up on pumpkins, they just make the cutest decoration to sit on top of dresses and they look really cute in photos!

11. Start a new show Autumn & winter are great times to get interested in a new tv show and binge watch on cold miserable days!

What’s in your to do list this autumn? Give me some ideas 🙂

What’s in my make up bag | week 1

Beauty

Starting this week I have decided to do a blogpost dedicated to my make up that I’ve worn the week before hand and share my thoughts on the products.

Base

My go to primer for many weeks has been from The Ordinary. I love The Ordinary products so I was intrigued to see how this Primer works compared to my other go to’s. As you can see I am nearly at the end of this tube, but have no fear, I have two more back ups! I love the way this Primer feels, it really reminds me of the Benefit Porefessional but way cheaper!

I have not switched up my foundation in ages, and to be honest I don’t really want to! I’ve found a good primer and foundation and they work well for me, so why change? I use the shade NC15 in Mac Studio Fix Fluid during the winter months when I’m not tanned and it’s the perfect match!

As for under eye concealer my go to the past week has been Rimmel Wake Me Up. This is really hydrating and brightening and I need waking up as we still have another week to go until October half term!

Cream Contour has been my go to favourite thing to do, I just love adding extra colour and shoe back into my face. My go to the past week has been from Seventeen, you can see it’s well loved (I have a back up, don’t worry!).

Powders

I always set my face using Rimmel Stay Matte but I never include that in my routines as it’s not very interesting. For my bronzer and blush I have been using the Steven Klein Palette from Nars. The bronzer is in the shade Laguna and the blush is in the shade Dolce Vita. These are really warm shades and perfect for fall. And for highlight I’ve been using Champagne Sorbet by Tanya Burr Cosmetics as it gives a really natural golden glow.

Eyes & Brows

For mascara I have been using the one and only Loreal Paradise Exatic Mascara which is the best mascara I own! It is so easy to use and build up volume and length without going clumpy!

And finally for my brows I really love using powders as I find them much easier to work with and they create a more natural look. My chosen one for last week was from the ELF Brow kit in the shade medium. I then set my brows with Loreal Brow Plumper, I’ve used a few brows over the past few weeks but this is the only one which actually keeps my brows groomed!

Come back next week for the second part of what’s I my make up bag!

What’s in my travel make up bag | 1 night in Geneva

Beauty

In October half term I am heading to Geneva for 1 night to see the sites and explore, so I thought I would share with you what I’m planning on packing in my make up bag.

For my base I am taking Benefit Porefessional Primer as I know this works amazingly well with the Mac Studio Fix foundation. These two together are really long lasting and still look exactly the same at the end of the day. Concealer wise I am taking the Bourjois Radiance Reveal because this gives great coverage and is also really brightening. Then too add some definition to my face I will be using the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Contour Stick in the shade dark as this gives a really natural contoured look.

To bronze my face I will be using Hoola by Benefit follows by a Nip + Fab blush and the shade Champagne Sorbet from Tanya Burr Cosmetics to highlight.

My absolute go to mascara at the minute is Loreal Paradise Exactic, it’s so quick and easy to use and build up volume and length that it makes it perfect to use when your short on time. For my eye shadow I wanted to create a really autumnal look so I’ve picked out an eye shadow from MUA Cosmetics in the shade Copper, this is a really pigmented copper shade and I will be using this over my lid. In my crease I will using the shade Soft Truffle from Tanya Burr Cosmetics palette Birthday Suit to build up the intensity.

And finally for my brows I have chosen the brow kit from ElF, I have really been loving using powders so this one is perfect. And then to set my brows I will be using Loreal Brow Sculpt.

And ofcourse no makeup bag is complete without lipstick, or many lipsticks! I may only be going away 2 days but I do like to have options! To keep my lips soft and hydrated I’m taking the Tanya Burr Cosmetics lip balm in Blackberry Coulis. As this has a tint aswell it’s really easy to just add on the go and not worry about the application. I then have packed two Mac lipsticks, the first shade is Amourous and the second is Russian Red. And the beautiful deep berry lipstick from Nars is in the shade Charlotte, this is the lipstick I plan on wearing the most! And then when I don’t want a dark or bright lip I have packed Tanya Burr Cosmetics Martha Moo liquid lipstick which is a nudey pink shade and is really long lansting.

Fall Makeup Routine

Beauty

Today’s post is all about my fall makeup routine that I have been doing for the past couple of weeks.

My fall makeup routine starts off with my favourite primer from The Ordinary, I just love the way this feels on my skin and how long it makes my make up last! For my foundation I have gone a shade lighter so I’m now in the shade NC15 which is a perfect match. I then conceal under my eyes using the Rimmel Wale Me Up Concealer. This is brightening and so it’s perfect for those dull autumn days. And then to add a bit of colour into my face and some shape I use the cream bronzer from Seventeen. I use this on my forehead and on my cheeks.

On my cheeks I have been using Nars Laguna Bronzer which adds the slightest bit of shimmer to brighten your face up followed by the blush Dolce Vita which is a deeper toned blush perfect for autumn days. Finally on my cheeks I have been using a dusting of the Peonies Please from Tanya Burr Cosmetics. This is super pigmented and so you only need one swipe along your cheek bones.

On my eye lashes I have been using Loreal Lash Superstar which is a double ended Mascara so you can build up loads of volume and length.

As for the eyes, I wanted something really autumnal and bold so I picked the red shimmer shade from the MUA Cosmetics palette. It’s really pigmented, long lasting and looks great on! I then used a Colour Pop shadow in the shade Cornelius in the outer corner to blend it all together.

And for my brows I have been loving using the powder from the Elf Brow kit, it’s the perfect shade for me (medium) and it’s really easy to work with to create natural look brows. Then of course I set using Loreal Brow Plumper.

Finally, lips! To add a little bit of colour I like to use the Blackberry Coulis lip balm from Tanya Burr Cosmetics. And then to add even more colour the shade Amourous by Mac is a great shade for autumn!

What’s your go to make up for autumn?

Autumn Lip Picks

Beauty

Welcome back, today’s post is all about my autumn lip picks! I have gone throw my collection and picked out the lipsticks which I think scream fall!

I have picked out a real variety from the typical dark berries to the dark nudes.

The three lipsticks across the top are pretty much my staples for autumn time. On the left is Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria, this is a less typical fall shade, but is very ideal for wearing to work as it’s still a dark nudey brown. In the middle is the prettiest shade, Charlotte by Nars! I need to wear this a lot more this year as it’s such a gorgeous dark plumy red shade perfect for adding a pop of autumn to your make up. And on the right is another work autumnal shade, Pink Cocoa from Tanya Burr Cosmetics.

I have picked out two Colour Pop shades, on the left is Saturday and in the middle is Avenue. I really love the shades of these, but I don’t get along very well when wearing them, they flake off half my lips and look awful! Please let me know if there is a way to make these stay put, because I have so many and can’t use them! I then have two Mac lipsticks in the shades Whirl and Amourous. Whirl is definitely the more typical brown woodland shade where as Amourous has a hint of purple and berry shades. I have then also picked out a Mac liquid lipstick in the shade High Drama, this screams autumn and is the perfect dark lip! I also really love he formula of the Mac liquid lipsticks as they last for so long!

I have also picked out a Revlon Liquid Lip Colour in the shade Addiction, this is really creamy and longlasting. And finally I have two soft matte lip creams from NYX, these are in the shades Transylvania and Copenhagen. To be honest I won’t be getting much wear out of these as they are really old and dried up but I can’t bring myself to get rid of them!

After wiring this post I’ve realised how many autumnal lipsticks I need to start wearing! I’m sure I will pack quite a few of them to take away with me on my next holiday!

Goals for October

Beauty

October is in full swing now and I have decided to do my first ever monthly goals post and set myself some goals to achieve for the next 31 days! To be honest I don’t really have a clue what my goals should be, but here goes…

  • Publish a blog post daily for the whole month of October
  • Plan & create blogposts for November and sort out a publishing schedule for the rest of the year
  • Think of ideas for December blog posts
  • Aim to go on one walk a week
  • Walk to work atleast 3 times a week
  • Reach 4000 followers on Instagram by the end of the month

And that is it, I’m mainly focusing around my blog this month as I really need to motivate myself to post more and ofcourse walking is healthy!

What are your goals for the month?

Summer Capsule Make Up

Beauty

So I’ve been seeing a lot of blog posts and videos about capsule wardrobes, but one that really stood out it me was a video by The Anna Edit and her Capsule Make Up picks. So I have decided to do a blog post dedicated to my capsule make up picks every season! And first up are my summer picks. These are pretty much my go to staples that I have been obsessed with over the summer months.

For my base I have been loving Benefit Porefessional Primer, that being said, I save it for special occasions so it’s not an everyday primer for me. For my foundation I have the same rule, only on special occasions and days when I need my make up to stay on for hours.

For concealer I have been loving the Bourjois Radiance Reveal as it’s really creamy and high coverage but it’s still light weight and doesn’t cake up and look thick.

To add some shape to my face I have been loving the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Contour Stick in medium/dark. This gives me the perfect tanned looking forehead.

My go to bronzer/contour product at the minute is Hoola by Benefit, this is the perfect shade for me right now with a tan. I’m not sure if this is going to work all year round, so I’ll have to wait to find out.

The Hour Glass Ambient Lighting Edit palette is perfect for travelling as it contains a setting powder, blusher, bronzer and highlight which is really convenient and compact.

On my brows I like to use a pomade from Anastasia Beverly Hills as this gives a really natural brow look.

As for mascara I have been wanting really defined black lashes so using the Loreal Superstar mascara helps do this, as it’s double ended it builds up volume and really defines the lashes.

My go to concealer for covering up pesky spots is Rimmel Lasting Finish, this is a really thick creamy high covereahe formula, I use this under my foundation to get rid of most the redness and then again on top of need.

Rimmel Stay Matte, this is my go to powder, he only one I have ever used. It really does keep your make up looking matte and in place all day long, plus it’s only £3.99!

Picking an eyeshadow palette was hard, but I decided to go for one of my newer ones. The Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar by Too Faced. All the shades in here are wearable and work really well together so it’s easy to create multiple looks.

As for lips, how could the majority not be a Red of some sort!

On the left is Bear Hug by Tanya Burr Cosmetics, this is a matte nude, it looks really good with a tan and is a really nice subtle shade for when you don’t want a bold in your face shade.

Next is another Tanya Burr Cosmetics shade this time in a gorgeous bold orange, Wild Safari. This again is matte, and is just so lovely on a hot summers day!

The next is a liquid lipstick from Mac in the shade Fashion Legacy, this is my most worn lipstick of the summer as it’s long lasting so I don’t have to top it up all the time or worry about it ending up all over my face.

And lastly is my little YSL beauty in the shade 201,  this is a beautiful matte red perfect for the summer.

So there is my capsule make up collection, 15 items which are staples. Can you pick just 15 items out of your collection to create a capsule collection?
