Summer Lovin’ Makeup Routine

Beauty

This summer I have really tried to stay away from heavy make up, I recently wrote a post on why I’m ditching foundation, but the reality is, that I only ditch foundation when I’m 100% happy with how my skin is looking, as soon as I have an spot or three my foundation makes it way back into my makeup up. So here is my current go to make up look for summer…

In the summer especially I was really gooey natural looking skin, the primer I have found that is perfect for this is the Figs & Rouge Light Reflefting Brightening Primer & Illuminator. This is a very golden primer which makes your skin glow like a disco ball instantly. I like to follow that with my trusty Mac Studio Fix Foundation. I only apply a tiny amount and blend it over my face just to even out my skin tone, I don’t go on thick and heavy and cake it on, because I know that does not work for my skin nor does it look good! If I have a tan and my foundation doesn’t match, then I apply some darkening drops from The Body Shop.

For concealer I like to use Rimmel Wake Me Up, this is such a light weight concealer, I find this is the only one that doesn’t crease under my eyes.

Before I set my face with the Arkana I-Tech glow powder, I like to use a cream contour stick either from Tanya Burr Cosmetics or Illamasqua.

For powder bronzer I have been loving the Sephora bronzer in the shade Caledonia, I find this is the perfect shade for the summer when my skin is more tanned and warmer.

I have had the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette for over 2 years and I always forget to use because I keep it stored in my acrylic drawers so it doesn’t get ruined, but that’s meant I’ve forgotten about it loads! So I’ve decided to keep it out and try and use it as much as I can, I love the blush shade Luminous Flush and the highlight shade Iridescent Light. They both create a really glowy natural look which looks perfect for the summer.

The mascara I have been obsessed with is the L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes, this creates lots of length and volume and gives your lashes a natural curl.

On my brows I have been using the L’Oréal Brow Plumper, I recently decided to go a shade darker and use brown instead of blonde as I had it in my collection anyway and I love the way my brows look after using it!

I think most people will say Urban Decay Naked Heat is their chosen palette for the summer, it sure is mine! I am just obsessed with the warm shades!

And lastly a bright bold lip from Too Faced in the shade Melted Coral.

Summer Bag Loving

Beauty

Hello,

If your on social media as much as me then you will know that this style of bag is in now, there are loads of different styles of wicker/wooden/slat bags but this one was the only one which I truly liked and knew I would use.

This bag is from Ebay (here) and was only £13, I think for a bag like this it is fairly cheap, as they are really only fit for the summer season I wouldn’t want to spend loads on one.

The bag is really well made and seems to be rather sturdy, I love the colour combination, this means it’s great to go with every outfit you could possibly want to wear.
The only downside is, I have an iPhone 7+ and it’s too big to fit in the bag! So, if you have a larger phone, the bag is going to be pretty much useless for carry it in, that being said, most the time when I’m on holiday I have my phone out as I’m always taking photos anyway, so I’m hoping it wont cause too many problems.

This will be my holiday bag so I’m sure you will see it in plenty of photos over on Instagram @toriiitoriii

Let me know what your go to bag is for summer…

Another Instagramable place in London

Food

On the same day I went to Peggy Porschen’s for the third time I also found this cute little bakery literally a 30 second walk down the road, this meant I went from eating cake to getting this watermelon pretty much instantly, but oh well.

We were walking past the bakery ‘Dominique Ansel Bakery’ when a girl walked out with a watermelon with ice cream inside, I didn’t have to think twice about the fact that I NEEDED that in my life! It’s so hard these days to find really unique cool places to eat that are not all over social media so I was rather excited about the fact I’d never seen the watermelon on my Instagram feed before.

The watermelon itself is a grand total of £6.50 which is pretty impressive considering you don’t get a lot of actual food but I guess I got my moneys worth of photos. As soon as I had it in my hands the mini photoshoot outside the shop commenced and I am obsessed with the photos!

The bakery also does some other really cool instagramable food and has the cutest flower wall on the inside ready for so many more cute photos!

You can take a look at their website here .

If you want to see more photos of my trip to London and keep up to date with what I get up to follow me on Instagram @toriiitoriii

The perfect summer perfume & a dupe

Beauty

I think we can all safely say that when we think of a perfume fit for summer we think of Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, hands down it is summer in a bottle. As soon as it is spritzed onto your bare skin your transported back to sun, summer and all things holiday related. The smell of coconut and the sheer look of summer in a bottle. However, if your anything like me I have to use it sparingly, I can’t afford to keep buying a new bottle of it every month after dowsing myself in it daily as soon as a the sun rolls around. So I found a dupe for it…

A few weeks back I was in Next and noticed a bottle of perfume called Summer Sun, whenever I see anything which looks like it might smell similar to Bronze Goddess I have to sniff it to find out. To my absolute surprise it smelt identical! For a fraction of the price, at only £14 you can smell like summer all year round.

So next time your out shopping head into your local Next and have a sniff for yourself, they sell it in so many different sized bottles including a tiny spray for your handbag making it perfect to pack for your holiday.

You can buy yours here online.

A Postcard from Positano

Travel

When I booked my holiday to Naples I had no idea that going to visit Positano would even be possible, that being said it was a little bit out the way but well worth the visit! The photos I got here were some of my favourites from the whole trip!

Positano is such a pretty place and much like what you see plastered all over Instagram.

We arrived early afternoon, we were dropped off at the top of the hill by a bus and started the walk down. We had no idea where we were actually going but decided to just wing it and see where we ended up. Walking down the little alley ways was rather painful and in my mind I was dreading the walk back up at the end of the day.

When we made it down to the beach, we headed straight for food which consisted of pizza followed by ice cream. Then the photo taking commences and continued until we left.

It is such a quaint little town, I can’t imagine how busy it gets in the summer, it must be absolutely packed full of tourists!

Positano is such a photogenic place regardless of the weather.

There is not a lot to do there unless you literally just want to lay on the rocky beach all day and eat ice cream (which doesn’t sound half bad), so we decided to we would get a boat round to Sorrento so we got to tick another place off the list. Also this meant I didn’t have to walk back up all those stairs which was a result.

My top 5 Ordinary products

Beauty

For well over as year now I have been using a lot of The Ordinary in my skincare routine, I love how inexpensive these products are yet they contain loads of really great ingredients which are great for looking after your skin. I have tried quite the selection from them, but I have narrowed it all down to my top 5.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyalurnonic acid is a humectant, this means that it keeps the skin looking plump and hydrated which helps slow down the anti-aging process. I don’t use this every night, just when my skin feels like it needs an extra boost. The fact that this is a pretty effective product but only costs £6 means it should be a staple in everyone’s routine!

Argireline Solution

This solution claims to improve the appearance of fine lines and I’m pretty sure it does, although this solution is one that I do tend to forget about as I tend to use stronger serums, but when I do use this regularly I can notice a difference on my forehead lines, they become less obvious with regular use and I feel so much better about my skin. From what I have read online, argireline works but limiting the muscle movements (like Botox) to restrict facial expressions which cause wrinkles.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid is a ‘high potent antioxidant’, it works like a chemical peel, removing dead skin cells and repairing skin damage by restoring vitamin e and c. It also works well as an anti-imflamatory reducing redness and in turn creating an even skin tone. I use this once or twice a week, especially when I have been having a bad skin day. This has got to be one of my favourite items, when I apply this my skin has a slight burning sensation, which should not be a good sign, but I feel like it is working and doing its job!

Lactic Acid

Lactic Acid is a mild exfoliatant which helps reduce acne breakouts and reduce the signs of ageing. Lactic Acid works to exfoliate your skin and remove the build up of dead skin cells, The Ordinary website says you can use this daily, I personally wouldn’t as I think it can be quite harsh on your skin and I’m worried about my skin reacting badly to it. I use this up to two times a week making sure I’ve left a day in-between this and the Alpha Lipoic Acid.

High-Adherence Silicone Primer

This primer is my absolute go to, this is currently my third tube of this because I use it every time I do my make up, in my eyes this is just as good at Benefit Porefessional primer. It applies so nicely to my skin, leaves it feeling really soft and even and foundation just glides on! For less that £4 it really is a steel!

The worst part about The Ordinary is that the products are so hard to get a hold off, I like to buy them all in one place but most the time half of what I need is out of stock so it has been a long time since I have placed an order. My biggest tip would be to buy in bulk if you find something which you love, that way you will always have back ups!

What products have you tried from The Ordinary?

Everyday Beauty Heroes

Beauty

Today I’m sharing my everyday beauty essentials, these are products which I reach for near enough on a daily basis either when getting ready in the morning or getting ready for bed.

Dry Shampoo

I’m 99% sure dry shampoo or a substitute (talc) features in every girls morning process, if there is one thing I can’t stand it is greasy looking hair. As I use oil in my hair after washing my hair looks greasy by the morning, so dry shampoo is a staple.

Perfume

Another item I’m sure exists in everyone’s routine is the spritzing of perfume or a body spray, who doesn’t want to smell nice the whole day and receive compliments? My go to perfumes for smelling amazing are Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh, this is a fresh floral scent which lingers for the whole day! My second pick is Wanderlust by Michael Kors which is a warm woody smell, this one will be particularly  great for summer!

Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm

For the past few weeks I have been using the beauty balm as an extra moisturiser over night, I like to apply it to places which needs some extra loving such as under my eyes, around my nose, lips and on my forehead. The smell really reminds me of a spa, which makes it great for applying just before getting into bed as I find it relaxing.

Plum & Ashley Honey & Jojoba Oil Handcream

Hand cream is a fairly new addition to my beauty routine, but I figured I should take care of the skin on my hands as they probably take the most battering from the weather. I have been using this one from Plum & Ashley as I find it really hydrating, it rubs in easily and the smell is not to over powering.

Skin + Earth Face Scrub

In order to keep my skin looking glowy, fresh and rejuvenated I like to use a face scrub 2 – 3 times a week to get rid of dead skin cells and get the blood pumping. This face scrub from Skin + Earth is all natural and it feels so great on my skin!

Do you have any beauty essentials? Let me know in the comments.

Current Skincare Routine

Beauty

Hey! Today I’m sharing my current evening skincare routine as I have recently been trying out some new products and they deserve a huge shout out! Don’t forget you can follow me on Instagram @toriiitoriii where I post skincare routines a few times a week!

Cleanse

To remove my make up I use Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, this is great at removing make up and making sure your face is completely clean before moving on to the next step. I then use 3 more pumps and do a double cleanse just to make sure all my makeup if gone!

Scrub/Mask

The lovely brand Skin + Earth were kind enough to send me one a black charcoal + liquorice face mask and face scrub, at the moment I use then on alternate days as my skin is definitely loving them!

Tone

Recently I have been loving these Glycolic Acid Cleansing Pads from Superdrug as I have just ran out of The Ordinary Glycolic toner. These are really quick and easy to use and they are also on the less expensive side! These are also great for taking on holiday!

Serum

A serum which I have been loving over the past month is retinal reface by Indeed Labs, this was kindly sent to me to try out. This has already improved my skin, it is so much softer and the lines I have on my forehead are less noticeable (I’ve had these lines since I was a teenager).

Moisturise

I have been loving two moisturisers. The first is the Glossier Moon Mask, I use this as an over night treatment instead of how you are meant to use it. It leaves my skin baby soft the next morning and fully hydrated. Secondly, I have been using the Sesderma Factor G Renew Facial, I have nearly used up the whole pot of this already!

Extra

Lastly, on nights where I need an extra boost of hydration I use the Neil’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm on my forehead, under eyes and lips to add extra moisture over night.

What are your current skincare faves?

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

Beauty

Hello and welcome back, today’s post is all the about the beauty that is the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette!
I finally received this for Christmas after wanting it since it was released and I have been obsessed with it ever since and it is easy to see why.

Just looking at this palette makes me smile, it has every shade you could ever want and need for the perfect eye look. These shades are personally my favourites as they really compliment my skin tone. I also love that you can create multitudes of looks just from one palette and it is easy to use it for simple day time looks and more intense evening looks.

The packaging is super sleek and really does give off the same vibes as the shades inside which is great.

As with every Urban Decay palette you really are paying for the quality of the shadows, they blend really easily, have a ton of pigment just from one swipe and they last a long time.

My favourite shade to use in my crease is Low Blow as this is the perfect warm brown along with Scorched on my lid to add a pop of shimmer.

Even though this palette contains very autumnal shades, I will 100% be wearing the shades all year round as I can’t get enough of the fiery red tones. I also own Naked 2 and Naked 3, but Heat has to be my favourite one quite simply because of the warm tones and how versatile it is when it comes to creating many different looks

Urban Decay is definitely one of my favourite eye shadow brands, for £39.50 they are on the more expensive side, but I truly do believe you are investing in a quality product which is going to last you a long time. The best time to buy these palettes is when Debenhams has 15/20% off which can save you around £5!

What do you think of the Naked Heat palette? Are you still lusting after it?

My Top 10 Makeup Picks for 2017

Beauty

Happy New Year!

I can’t believe we’ve already had one week of 2018, I am really looking forward to this next year and seeing what it brings, but for now I thought I would share my top ten makeup products for last year…

One favourite for me which I have repurchased over and over again is The Ordinary Silicone Primer, this is one of the best primers I have used and one of the cheapest. It is less that £5 which is a bargain considering I compare it to Benefit Porefessional, it feels exactly the same on the skin and lasts just as long!

A very new favourite in my collection, just over a week is the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette, I had been lusting over this palette since it was released and used all my will power to not buy it! I received it as a present and have used it every day since! The shades are just so beautiful and perfect!

Another eye shadow palette which is on the less expensive side is the Burning Embers Palette by MUA Cosmetics. This contains a huge collection of beautiful shades which are very similar to the Naked Heat Palette. I used this non stop in the summer and pretty much all year!

My statement lip colour for the year has to be MAC Fashion Legacy, this is the most lovely red liquid lipstick. I tend to wear this whenever I need my lipstick to last a long time, either when out for food or on a day trip. This formula isn’t too drying on your lips and it is easy to keep it looking fresh.

A fairly new mascara discovery, is the Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour Mascara. This mascara is AMAZING, I thought I had found my favourite mascara by L’Oréal but this one takes first place. It is so easy to build up loads of volume and length creating really intense dark lashes!

My top foundation is MAC Studio Fix, this foundation has been my go to for long lasting coverage which doesn’t go cakey or disintegrate on your face throughout the day. This foundation combined with The Ordinary Primer is wonderful!

A foundation that comes in second place is Radiance Reveal by Bourjois, this has become my everyday work foundation as it is pretty much identical to the Studio Sculpt, but half the price. It lasts just as long and makes your complexion look really healthy and gives you coverage.

A blusher which has blown me away the past year was Galifornia by Benefit, this blush is a gorgeous coral shade, but it also smells amazing! Sometimes I just open up the box and sniff it because it really does smell that good!

Another cheek product I have been loving is the Contour Stick by Tanya Burr Cosmetics, I chose the shade dark and it gives a really intense shade to your face but it is really easy to blend out to look natural.

And my final favourite product of the year is Glossier Boy Brow, this has been a go to brow staple since they released in the UK. It is such an easy product to use on your brows and it is really easy to build up on its own or set a powder/pomade.

What are your top make up items for last year?

October Obsessions

Beauty

November is here, how crazy fast is this year going! Next month is December! Christmas! I’m already planning my blogmas content as I kinda failed blogtober this year after 20 posts I just stopped!

So here are Octobers favourites…

I think this face wash from Philosophy was in last months favourites, but it really is that good! I love using this as my second cleanser as it has really tiny scrubby bits which make it soft on your skin but still gives a gentle exfoliation.

I have been using a lot of Real Techniques brushes recently and it’s safe to say their now my go to for my make up, but one of my favourites for the month is this contour brush. I actually use this to set under my eyes, because it’s really small but quite solid it’s prefect for swiping in my powder and then pressing under my eyes.

I have been obsessed with using this brow pencil from Tanya Burr Cosmetics, I have really been loving the dark defined but natural look it gives. It is also really easy to use and get the perfect shade, plus look at that packaging!

Brandnation very kindly sent me some products to try out from a couple of brands including Scunci which are a haircare brand. They sent me two brushes, one of which has come everywhere with me all week and these hair ties. I have thick long hair and whenever my hair is in a ponytail it falls out and doesn’t stay put, but these hair ties have so much grip that they actually stay put!

Tell me this is not a gorgeous colour! This is the shade Charlotte from Nars and this was my go to shade whilst I was in Geneva a couple of weeks ago. It’s the perfect autumnal colour!

What’s in it for me have kindly sent me another shower product to try out, this is the Body Scrub and it smells delicious (good enough to eat). It has a really good consistency of scrubby bits (so technical) and is really moisturising. You can order your own for the winter to keep you skin looking great from Harvey Nichols.

The Ordinary has fastly become my favourite skincare brand, and this month I have especially been loving the Lactic Acid. This is a mild peel which gets rid of dead skin cells and encourages new ones to keep your skin looking glowing and young.

This book came out a good few weeks ago now, maybe even a month, but I didn’t get my hands on it until the very end of October. But it still makes it into my favourites because it was a long awaited purchase, and this book is going to be amazing for the festive season (and November). It such a pretty well designed and well put together book which has everything you need to get you in the mood for Christmas. You will be seeing a lot of this over blogmas for sure!

What’s in my make up bag | week 1

Beauty

Starting this week I have decided to do a blogpost dedicated to my make up that I’ve worn the week before hand and share my thoughts on the products.

Base

My go to primer for many weeks has been from The Ordinary. I love The Ordinary products so I was intrigued to see how this Primer works compared to my other go to’s. As you can see I am nearly at the end of this tube, but have no fear, I have two more back ups! I love the way this Primer feels, it really reminds me of the Benefit Porefessional but way cheaper!

I have not switched up my foundation in ages, and to be honest I don’t really want to! I’ve found a good primer and foundation and they work well for me, so why change? I use the shade NC15 in Mac Studio Fix Fluid during the winter months when I’m not tanned and it’s the perfect match!

As for under eye concealer my go to the past week has been Rimmel Wake Me Up. This is really hydrating and brightening and I need waking up as we still have another week to go until October half term!

Cream Contour has been my go to favourite thing to do, I just love adding extra colour and shoe back into my face. My go to the past week has been from Seventeen, you can see it’s well loved (I have a back up, don’t worry!).

Powders

I always set my face using Rimmel Stay Matte but I never include that in my routines as it’s not very interesting. For my bronzer and blush I have been using the Steven Klein Palette from Nars. The bronzer is in the shade Laguna and the blush is in the shade Dolce Vita. These are really warm shades and perfect for fall. And for highlight I’ve been using Champagne Sorbet by Tanya Burr Cosmetics as it gives a really natural golden glow.

Eyes & Brows

For mascara I have been using the one and only Loreal Paradise Exatic Mascara which is the best mascara I own! It is so easy to use and build up volume and length without going clumpy!

And finally for my brows I really love using powders as I find them much easier to work with and they create a more natural look. My chosen one for last week was from the ELF Brow kit in the shade medium. I then set my brows with Loreal Brow Plumper, I’ve used a few brows over the past few weeks but this is the only one which actually keeps my brows groomed!

Come back next week for the second part of what’s I my make up bag!
