Anti Dandruff shampoo from Percy & Reed | gifted

The latest launch from Percy & Reed is the I’m No Flake Shampoo. This is anti dandruff shampoo to add to your collection. I’ve never suffered with dandruff but that will not stop me from using this, as with all Percy & Reed haircare it truly is my favourite.

The shampoo contains Aloe Vera and Chamomile to help soothe the scalp and relieve irritation and dryness. It contains Pro Vitamin B5 to strengthen and restore the hair.

The thing I love most about Percy & Reed products is the smell, every product smells divine, I’ve noticed when I use their shampoo and conditioners by hair is also so much more manageable and brush-able after washing making it a much more enjoyable experience.

Percy & Reed is also vegan friendly & gluten free.

My hair care routine

Hair care is not something which I take too seriously, I would much rather spend my money on skincare, than my hair. Luckily for me brands like Percy & Reed and ESalon keep my hair looking good. I am very lucky to be able to say all these products are gifted and sent for me to try out.

I use the Percy & Reed shampoo and conditioner , the packaging is just so luxurious and they smell amazing so it’s always lovely being able to use them. I have very long thick hair, so washing my hair is the least favourite part of my beauty routine, I tend to only wash it about two times a week which is more than enough for me. Having great products make washing my hair so much nicer.

After I have washed and conditioned my hair I bung it up in a towel and leave it dry as much as it can do before attempting to brush it. Before I brush I apply some of the ESalon Leave in Conditioner which helps add some more moisture to my hair and makes it easier to tackle.
The brushing is the worst part, no matter, my hair gets extremely knotty! I use either my Wet Brush or Tangle Teezer to battle the millions of knots.
After I have brushed it out, I like to apply a couple of pumps of the ESalon oil, just to help smooth out the ends and prevent any breakages.

Unless I am going out and need my hair to be styled a certain way I just let my hair dry naturally, although recently I have been loving curling it!

Once my hair is dry, the morning after the wash, I like to add in some of the Percy & Reed Wonder Balm, this acts as another leave in conditioner and helps tame it through the day. If my hair is looking a bit on the dull side, then I LOVE adding the shine & fragrance spray from Percy & Reed, this adds shine and makes it smell amazing, which is also great for when you havn’t washed your hair.

New Hair Products | ESALON {gifted}

I have recently just been gifted all these lovely hair products, as someone who refuses to spend money on their hair and would much rather spend money on skincare, I really am excited to give these a go.

At £13 a bottle for the shampoo and conditioner I can definitely say this is the most luxury product my hair has had, and probably will have.

My hair is pretty ok most the time, but occasionally it does get a bit dry, so the moisture shampoo and conditioner will be great for locking in the moisture, especially in the hotter months.

I am a huge lover of leave in conditioner, this one provides moisture and stops frizz all day long, another product perfect for the summer. Along with the leave in conditioner, I was also sent some hair oil, I love oil in the summer, when I’m on holiday and I’m doing minimal hair styling, it works so perfectly to tame my hair and make it look healthy.

You can check out their website here to get products suitable to your hair.

My haircare saviours

I have been super lucky to be approached by a wonderful haircare brand, Percy & Reed, and I shall be working with them for the whole year which is super exciting! Each month I will be sent different products to try out and photograph. For me, I personally love just being able to take photos of products, testing them out is just an added bonus. Before this I had only ever tried one of their products which came in a subscription box, now I have a whole selection and could not be happier!

As you can see, the team at Percy & Reed have been super generous and I LOVE receiving these like parcels monthly.

So far, favourite has to be the overnight recovery, this is a hair mask which you can leave on for hours and hours. I tend to do mine every Sunday when I wake up if I have no plans for that day. I then let it work it’s magic the throughout the whole day. What’s great about this mask is that you only have shampoo your hair, no need for conditioner, so it totally speeds up the whole showering process (especially when it’s cold outside).

As I havn’t had these products for long I still havn’t had a good chance to try them, although before I went and took some outfit photos, I sprayed on the shine and fragrance spray which 1. smells amazing and 2. it actually made my hair look amazing!

And that’s all I’ve tried so far…

Happy Healthy Hair

In May I was given the opportunity to try out the Lydia Hair Supplement which promotes healthy strong and longer hair.
I feel like for the purpose of photos and Instagram, my hair is my life, I always feel so much more confident when my hair is down and looking healthy, this supplement has helped promote the healthiness of my hair in just over a month.

My Hair

My haircare routine is pretty simple compared to my 10 step skincare routine every evening, for my hair I simply wash, condition and put an oil in. I rarely dry or style my hair, I just let it air dry naturally (like in these photos). I have found that since I stopped using straighteners the ends of my hair have been so much more healthier and have less breakage.
My hair is bleached, but I literally get that done once a year so the damage is minimal and when I do the bleach doesn’t go on the ends, just on the roots.

The Product

I was sent a one month supply of the supplement, when I first read the flavour of the it I was a bit put off, orange & carrot flower, but actually it tastes just like orange squash. I have been using it as squash, after my dinner I mix it two cap fulls with water and drink it.
The main ingredients which promote healthy hair are biotin, zinc, millet extract & MSM and so many more amazing vitamins. I definitely do not get my daily allowance of vitamins from food so I am really grateful to be able support my hair (and skin) by using this supplement.

There is only one down side, it smells! If it gets on the bottle, or stains anything then you will be able to smell it and it does not smell pleasant! So just make sure you don’t spill, I have been drinking it in my bedroom so it would probably be wise to make your drink in the kitchen where smells don’t matter!

The End Result

I think the supplement has definitely helped support my hair growth and nourishment, it feels a lot softer and a lot easier to manage especially after washing.
I would love to see the effects after taking it for a few more months as I am sure it would increase growth, but as we know all these vitamins and minerals take a while to get into your system so I could still see the benefits even after I stop taking the supplement.

Lydia’s Hair Supplement  1.5 month supply is £27

Thanks for reading xx

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse

While I was on holiday my hair became unmanageable, in fact it’s like that all the time. My hair is so thick and long now that it takes so long to brush it and it gets knotty so easily. Luckily I had thought ahead and packed a tiny sample size of the NUXE oil and so I deciddd to use that one day to try and tame my locks, and to my surprise and happiness it worked! I started using the oil every day and after I showered and it made my hit so much easier to brush and looked so much sleeker!

However, that tiny little sample size wa snot going to last me forever. I found a 50ml for £11 on a website and jumped at the chance to get it!

This oil is a multi use oil, not just for hair but also for your face and body which makes it a really good investment. I cannot believe I didn’t think about trying an oil before hand as it’s made my hair so much better! Before when my hair dries my ends looked awful and wispy but now they look really healthy!

So if you have thick long hair and need something to tame it then definetely have a go with an oil!

What’s in my travel toiletry bag / Crete

I am well known for not travelling light, last year I had to pay extra as my bag was over weight! But this year I think I have it down to a t, I have been collecting sample sizes and travel sizes of loads of products from beauty boxes so I am mainly taking them! Even though these products don’t all fit in my toiletry bag but hey, can’t have everything!

This is my skin cleansing section, I am taking a pack of wipes which I can use at night to remove a large amount of make up so that I don’t waste my face wash. Since taking this photo I have actually down sized my face wash to one that’s nearly empty and also a travel sized container from Sephora. I am taking my little pink brush as I find this helps exfoliate my skin. I am also taking the Eve Lom cleanser to try out one night. In the small white bottle that is some Clean & Clear blackhead toner along with some cottonwool.

This is the in shower section and is fairly small so I am very proud! I am taking this razor which I recieved in a beauty box and have been saving it especially for this holiday. I also have 2 shower gels from Korres which are perfect for travelling. And lastly I thought I would try out the St Tropez in shower tan to give me a bit of a boost on the first few days.

This is probably the biggest section as its a lot of minis and packets of samples. I am taking a small shampoo and conditioner, the conditioner will run out quickly on my hair so I am taking some moisture masks for my hair and repairing ones. I also have packed a heat protectant, a sea salt spray and a leave in conditioner.

This is probably the most amount of face masks any one has taken on holiday but they are my weakness! I have 3 face masks and will probably spilt the 2 bigger ones over 2 days each as they have a lot of product in them. I then have a sheet face mask from Sephora and some eye masks and lip masks. As my skin is our in the sun for a whole week I really want to give it a good pamper.

I like to make sure I have a good moisturiser every night, and as I will end up washing my face twice a night (before dinner and after dinner) I want to make sure I have a light weight moisturiser to wear aswell. All of these are samples and more pricey brands so I feel like I’m posher on holiday. I have the IOMA moisturiser capsules, Vichy and Naobay moisturiser. In the clear bottle is a vitamin e spray and then finally a Caudalie eye cream.

Now onto my body skin care, as I will be tanning I want to make sure I keep it moisturiser at night to maintain my tan. I have an after sun from Malibu and a body lotion from Soap & Glory. I then have been dying to try this shimmer body oil from No7 for the longest time so of course I am taking that! And then I have a gradual self tanner just Incase I miss some bits when I’m tanning.

And now to smell good, a deodorant of course. And a mini body spray from Victoria’s Secret along with some minis from some of my favourite perfumes.

And finally my choices for sun protection. I like to use oil but I also like have a proper cream just Incase I want a bit extra protection. I also have a spf 30 for my face and a spf lip balm so my lips don’t burn and they stay hydrated.

Hair Care Routine

Over the past year or so I have been so focused on my hair care and trying to do whatever it takes to make it grow! At the minute my hair is the longest it’s ever been, and I used to think it didn’t grow. But it does! I grew up swimming so I think chlorine was the main culprit for the damage and not allowing it to grow. But I also had highlights, so that combined with chlorine was the perfect combination of bad things for your hair. Now I work in a pool everyday but we use minimal chlorine and I can see so much difference in the condition of my hair.

So here are my tips and what I have been using to help it grow and be healthy.

My hair is not naturally blonde, a long time ago it was. Which is why I have always stuck with it as my hair colour, it’s more natural that way. I’ve been having highlights for about 9 years now, but as time has gone on I have reduced the amount I get and how often. I try and leave it a long time before I get my roots done, and plus I kind of like the ombré look. If your using bleach then make sure you are using some good treatments to restore the goodness to your hair.

I can count on my hands the amount of time I used heat on my hair last year. Even though I always use a heat protectant I still feel like it’s not doing any good to my hair. I only straighten my hair for very special occasions. Most of the time my hair dries straight anyway if I keep combing it while it dries. I like to also let my hair dry naturally all year long.

Extensions have been my saviour, I will not have my photo taken without them in. I feel like they add so much to hair and make me feel whole. I have gone through 4 pairs of extensions since I’ve started wearing them. I buy human hair which works out about £70 because of the length. Yes it’s a little expensive but if your not happy with the length of your hair it can help so much! They really are worth the money!

I have been taking Biotin for about a month now and I can really notice a difference. My hair growths seems more prominent and I can see my roots as the blonde grows out. Biotin helps promote healthy hair and nails. I also take cod liver oil which helps maintain your hair follicles so healthy hair grows through. And finally I take multi vitamins to just make sure I am getting enough of everything else.

Hair Ties

For the past few years I have only been using the hair tries which look like ribbon. They are thick prices of elastic which are ties together. They reduce creasing in your hair, so when you tie it up you can then take it down again without having to straighten your hair. These hair ties are also less harsh on your hair and reduce the damage a normal hair tie does.

Healthy Eatting

Taking vitamins and minerals isn’t the only thing that is going to help your hair grow, you also need to eat the good stuff. I am the worse for healthy eatting but i manage to get in some nutrients by drinking smoothies and making my own soups.

In order for your hair to grow healthily you need to drink 8 glasses of water a day as dehydration will affect your scalp and prevent hair growth.

Massaging your scalp will stimulate hair growth and get the blood circulating. It also feels really nice, make sure you don’t use your nails though as that will damage your hair follicles.

  Leave in Conditioner

Before I comb my hair I use a leave in conditioner of hair oil, this way my hair has less tangles and I am going to cause less damage to it. It also helps style your hair and makes it really soft.

February Glossy Box

First Impressions

This months Glossy Box was Valentines Day themed. It came with a Wilkinson Sword Razor which looks pretty great so I will be saving this for my summer holiday as I only tend to buy cheap razors (plus I epilate so don’t really have the need for one). Next was an amazing hair mask from Naobay which is amazing! I used this at the weekend and the whole week my hair has been so manageable and soft compared to normal. I wash my hair everyday because of being in the pool but this mask has really helped it! There was also a cute pair of floral tweezers, but I tend to only use the one pair I’ve had since I started plucking my eye brows years ago. So I might not use these but they would make a nice present for someone. And next was a brown eye liner, I’ve never really tried a brown eyeliner before so I will be giving this ago. I also thought I could maybe fill my brows in with this depending on how dark it is on them. And lastly was a lip glaze from MUA and this actually has amazing colour as you can see above! Normally lip glosses are very sheer but this one has so much colour, plus I love a good purple lip!
