My current morning skincare routine

Beauty

Since being in lockdown I have been able to take the time to do my morning skincare routine, on a normal work day I do not leave myself time to be able to do that and my make up. So it has been really nice for the past 8 weeks to be able to clean my skin ever morning.

However it is morning, I still don’t want to get my face completely wet so I use the Hydrating Milky Cleanser from Pixi (gifted) which gets rid of any dirt and product build up from during the night.

I then go in with the Pixi Vitamin-C Tonic (gifted) to tone and brighten. I follow this with the Boots Glow Essence which contains niacinamide which helps fight spots so it is great for me on a daily basis.

I use the Dermalogica biolumin-c eye serum (gifted) which brightens and forms the under eye area. And lastly I finish up by moisture from using the Boots Glow moisturising cream which soothes and hydrated.

Boots Glow Skincare

Beauty

Did I need more skincare, no, but because it was pink and looked pretty did I have to buy it, yes! I couldn’t help myself when I saw these products on the Boots website. They are so aesthetically pleasing and if I was a skincare product I would be one of these.

One of the very amazing things about these new products from Boots is the price, looking at them you’d think they would cost a lot more than what they did. But no, they were all £4 each! What a bargain, everything was £4!

One of the main ingredients in all of these products is Niacinamide, which is great for fighting blemishes. I tend to use these products when I am having a bit of a skin outbreak and I know I can trust them to help it out.

The two staples from this range I have been using near enough daily are the Glow Essence and the Glow Eye Cream. I find them both really hydrating and they also smell really great too!

I think this is a really lovely range for Boots to come out with and I love how affordable yet nice the products all are and I think I will definitely be repurchasing these when they run out.

Lockdown loves

Beauty

I thought for my first blogpost in a while I would share some of the things I have been loving whilst we have been in lockdown.

To be honest, I kind of feel like I’m thriving being in lockdown, my mental health is actually a lot better and my over mood is so much better than when I am at work, guess that means I need to retire pretty soon haha.

The first thing I have been loving in lockdown is photography, I feel like over the past 8 weeks I have gotten a lot more creative with my Instagram photos and there is so much inspiration out there for creative photo ideas.

Secondly I have been loving some new fashion/trends, the first being the basic Nike crew socks which everyone seems to have. I never used to like bulky sock like this because I have small feet and muscular legs so I didn’t think they would look good, but I actually love them! Another trend I have been loving is the over sized graphic tee and cycling shorts, something which I never imagined myself wearing, but once again I really like the look!

Thirdly, I have semi regained my passion for walking, some days I have no energy and no interest in going for our daily walk, other days I thrive by going. I guess it really depends on the weather and my mood.

My morning skincare routine is something which has taken a front seat, I really look forward to waking up and using all my products and having fresh skin for the day.

I’ve also been loving not having to do my make up everyday, planning just a few times a week to do a full face makes it so much more enjoyable as I can take my time and mostly do this on FaceTime talking to my best friend whilst she does hers at the same time.

The last thing I want to mention is that I have been loving my eye brows, I think I will do a separate blog post on eye brow lamination because I am beyond obsessed with them and how they look!

Thanks for reading, stay safe xx

Styling the wooden watch | gifted

Beauty

I was very kindly gifted this beautiful wooden watch from JORD watches, it is so different to anything else I’ve every owned and very unique.

JORD pronounced Yode, make and sell hand crafted watches for men and women made from natural materials. The one I am styling is the Frankie series and can be found below.

https://www.woodwatches.com/series/frankie-II/women?gO=m

The watch is really comfy to wear and looks great layer over the top of a jumper as it’s still way to cold to not wear sleeves. I was a bit worried it would look a bit too bulky and masculine but I don’t think that’s the case at all, I think it fits in well with my style and compliments the light colours I wear.

If you would like to purchase your own watch you can follow the link below for 20% off your order.

October favourites

Beauty

My first proper blogpost in months, so I’m back with some of my current favourites.

First up, I have been loving the Freshly Cosmetics Red Velvet Oil Serum, this is a serum which you put on over your moisturiser just before you go to bed. It helps clear up your skin, get rid of blackheads and hydrate you over night. As you can see I only have enough left for one night as I have really been living for this stuff! You can check it out here. *

For my primer I have been using the Erborian Matte Cream, this is such a great primer which I am also nearly out off. It creates a flawless base for your foundation by blurring your pores. *

Another skincare product which I use nightly is the Pixi Beauty Rose Glow mist, this is an oil spray which I spritz on my face as I’m about to get into bed. Not only does it give an extra boost of hydration, it smells great. *

Another thing I have been doing before going to sleep is applying the Forchic lash serum which has actually helped my lashes grow. When wearing mascara I notice the growth a lot more, it also makes applying mascara so much easier as I don’t have to build the length up as much. *

On my lips my favourite lip product is one of the latest Pixi Beauty launches in the shade Coral Bang. Its such a nice transitional shade as its not a dark red. The formulation is also really good too as it lasts a while and its easy to wipe off. *

The mascara which has been my go to for a couple of months now is from Primark, I saw online that it was a dupe for Too Faced Better Than Sex, and I can confirm it is. For only £3, the packaging is gorgeous, it applies great and lasts.

And lastly, the fixing powder from MUA Cosmetics which is the only powder I own, it leaves your skin look matte but your can still see a bit of a glow coming through, it lasts all day and doesn’t look cakey.

Skylar Scent Club | gifted

Beauty

Over the past few months I have been receiving an amazing little subscription of perfume! Perfume is something which I wear every day and I especially like to take it when I go on holiday. Skylar Scent Club is an amazing little club which send out a travel sized roller ball each month. Each month is such a unique scent and perfect for the month, I have been loving the summer scents especially!

What I also love about the scents is the packaging, every bottle just looks so cute and perfect making it a wonderful accessory to keep in your handbag. As you can see I took all three of my bottles on holiday with me because, why not?

I also find that because they are roller balls and not sprays they last so much longer which is great.

A Spa Break with Bannatynes {gifted}

Travel

At the beginning of the week I had pleasure of venturing down to Hastings, East Sussex for an overnight spa break which was very kindly gifted by Bannatynes.
I decided to take one of my best friends as we had not been on holiday together in a really long time.

When we arrived at the hotel, it was pretty much everything I was expecting. A big country style house set in the middle huge green grounds, it truly felt like we were on holiday.

The spa is located a short 2 minute walk down the driveway, which we headed to straight away after we had checked in and seen our room. The room was extremely spacious and clean and had really quirky features. The highlight for me was the big bath room and bath tub!

In the spa we were given a little tour of the facilities and were made to feel really welcome. We headed straight to the Jacuzzi as it was empty as I wanted to get some photos in there before it got busy, so we timed it perfectly.

After being outside for a while we decided to try out the steam room and the indoor Jacuzzi before heading back to the room to get ready for dinner that evening.

Before dinner we headed back down to the gardens out the back of the hotel to take some photos, and ordered a cocktail from the bar for some more photos.

The gifted experience included a two course meal, as a really fussy eater I was a little bit concerned about not liking enough of the food, but I can safely say I liked it all. For started I had the watercress soup, followed by chicken in gravy with potatoes and cabbage.

On the second day we woke up nice and early to the sun streaming into our room making it feel like a sauna. We headed down to breakfast, it was buffet style with everything you could of wanted along with made to order specials.

Before driving to Hastings beach we had our treatments in the spa, we both chose to have facials. This was my first facial so I was a little bit anxious about having it as I was just thinking of all the horrible things the person would say about my skin. However, this was not the case. The lady who did the facial was really nice, and I just laid back and relaxed.

Thank you to Bannatynes for giving us this amazing opportunity and allowing us to come and stay!

Superdrug’s Hot Cloth Cleanser

Beauty

Whilst I was having a browse in Superdrug I came across their own brand of skincare, I’m all up for trying out a cheaper version of more expensive brands so I decided to pick up the hot cloth cleanser which is a dupe for Liz Earl Hot Cloth Cleanser. I have used a sample sized of the Liz Earl in the past, I liked it, but not enough to warrant spending £16 on a product just remove make up.

The Hot Cloth Cleanser from Superdrug was less than £3, I think normally its £6, but there is normally a deal or two on in there.
The cleanser contains kiwi and mulberry to revive skin’s radiance and even out skin tone, the coco butter melts into the skin and removes the make up.

I love using this every night to remove my make up, I love the fact you can massage it into your skin and actively see the makeup melting away. I prefer using this to a make up wipe as I find it removes make up a lot more efficiently. Once the formula is massages into your skin, rinse the cloth under warm water and gently wipe away your make up. This cloth is very quick drying which I like as I don’t have to wait hours for it dry so I can pack it away.

So, overall I love this version of hot cloth cleanser, I love the smell, I love how well it removes make up and I love the price. I will definitely be repurchasing a few more bottles of this whilst it is on offer.

The ultimate glow from Pixi Beauty

Beauty

On Christmas Eve this amazing surprise arrived from Pixi Beauty, I had no idea it was on its way and I had no idea that I was even worthy of receiving it! But this package in itself is a great way to finish the year off!

The Pixi Glow Tonic has been my go to toner for a couple of years now, I have experimented with other glycolic timers but I always come back to this one. It’s very gentle on your skin but you can definitely noticed the difference when you use it. I find it very good to use when I am having a bad breakout as exfoliates the skin and dries up my spots.

This is a massive 200ml of the toner, which is also personalised! I have never had a skincare or make or product with my name of it before so this is pretty out of this world. I am beyond grateful for this huge bottle of glorious glow and cannot wait to use it throughout 2019.

I want to say a huge thank you to Pixi Beauty for sending me this xx

My favourite make up products of 2018

Beauty

This post could be full of loads of make up items, but I have been really strict and just chosen products which have been my ultimate ‘go to products’ of last year, the products which I come into 2019 still reaching for.

First up we have the ultimate red lip, this is YSL 201. This is my all time favourite shade to wear, it works for both summer and winter and gives the ultimate ‘made up’ look.

Next is the best eye shadow palette ever created, Urban Decay Naked Heat! I have not stopped using it, every where I go the palette goes too, it’s been on countless holidays and airplanes. The palette contains my absolute favourite shades, the warm tones work for me all year round and I just could not be more in love with a palette if I tried.

Last year was really the year of investing my skincare, one company who’s products has changed the skincare and make up game for me is Dermalogica. I am one of their Skinfluencers, so I was lucky enough to be sent a lovely package of products back the summer which contained the Skin Perfect primer. This is such an amazing primer, it is SPF 15 and creates a really great base for the best of your make up as well as making it last a long time.

Glossier Haloscope in Quartz is my most use highlighter, this is a cream formula so it instantly creates a gorgeous natural glow.

My absolute favourite cream bronzer from Tanya Burr Cosmetics has just been discontinued and I have just ran out it, I have gone through so many of these as I love it so much, it was the perfect shade for me.

I havn’t really been a big CC Cream fan, that was until I was sent one from Erborian. This one creates a really nice natural looking base for when you don’t want to wear a heavy foundation.

My go to blush of the summer was definitely Benefit Galifornia, I literally love using this just for the smell, I could sit and sniff it all day long!

And lastly, two palettes that are both equally as good as each other are the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette and the Hour Glass Ambient Lighting Edit palette. These are both really good versatile palettes perfect for all year round.

Starting to scrapbook

Beauty

When I was growing up I always loved to scrapbook and make photo albums of ALL my photos, but along the way I stopped, I stopped being creative and I stopped printing my photos off as I pretty much only needed photos online digitally. This being said I figured towards the end of 2018 I wanted to start scrapbooking and having a place where I could see my photos other than on facebook or instagram.

For Christmas I asked for the HP Sprocket which is a phone printer. It prints out really tiny cute photos which remind me of polaroids. I figured this would be a different way to have my photos displayed, although the paper does work out a little on the expensive side. I also decided to get some photos printed in different sizes from Boots.

I found some really nice scrapbooks from Wilkinsons for only £1.50, so I bought 7 of them! I really love the colours of the front and the size of them are pretty perfect, plenty of room to fit in all my photos.

I then did a bit of Pinterest research and found some other cute scrapbook ideas, I found people using watercolours to make cute colourful backgrounds, so I bought my own from Amazon.

I also liked the idea of using pastel coloured highlighters to add a pop of colour and then write headings over the top.

To add a bit more colour to the pages I found a book full of different patterned paper to create some borders.

Let me know if there are any other cute ways to decorate a scrapbook xx

Three Ways I’ve Changed My Skincare Routine

Beauty

1.

The first way I have changed my skincare routine is by adding a cleansing brush, the one I have recently been obsessed with is from Magnitone*. I love using this twice a day to completely cleanse my skin, afterwards my skin feels so soft and refreshed. I have found that this has helped greatly with the texture and tone of my skin, and in the most part any scaring from old spots has started to clear up.

2.

Next up, I have found that using a liquid exfoliator has benefited my skin hugely. I have been using three exfoliating products, the first being Pixi Glow Tonic* which is a toner which contain Glycolic Acid which gently exfoliates the skin to leave it glowing. I use this every night after cleansing and masking.
Another product which is great at renewing your skin is The Body Shop Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel, massage this into to a dry face and your left with loads of little clumps which supposedly is dead skin cells.
And lastly, the Lactic Acid from The Ordinary is a superficial peeling formula, I really find this helps my skin when I am having bad breakouts as it breaks them down and dries them out.

3.

Lastly, I have stopped using ‘anti-aging’ moisturisers and started using moisturisers which are more suitable for my skin type, which currently is combination with fair few breakouts. My two top moisturisers for helping my current skin are the Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream* and Simple Anti Blemish Moisturiser. These two moisturisers have helped my skin improve a lot as I am giving my skin what it needs currently.
