My current skincare routine

Beauty

Hey, today I thought I would share my current skincare routine which I am using now it’s a little bit warmer and sunnier!

First off I have become obsessed with the skincare company called the Beauty Kitchen, they have so many lovely products and kindly sent me a selection of them! I have been loving the Radiance Cleansing Gel, this glides over your face and removes all the impurities and it smells heavenly! All of their products smell so good! Once I have massaged the gel in I like to use a Konjac sponge to remove the gel, this also acts as a exfoliant.

Next I like to use Lush Ocean Salt a couple of times a week to exfoliate and because I love the smell of it so I can’t resist using it!

My favourite mask at the moment is the 5 minute miracle mask from the Beauty Kitchen, this smells the same as the cleanser. This plumps your skin whilst detoxing your skin.

For around 2 months I have been using Glossier Solution, initially I really did feel like it was working, but now I’m not 100% convinced so I don’t think I would purchase another bottle when I run out. I still use it religiously every night but I haven’t noticed a huge improvement in my skin.

A couple of times a week I use to the Lactic Acid serum from The Ordinary, this acts as another exfoliant reliving dead skin and helping with spots. I only use this sparingly as Glossier Solution contains lactic acid and I don’t want to over do it win exfoliants!

After all the cleansing and exfoliating I like to use an oil to add loads of hydration, I have been using one which was sent to me by Evoluderm which contains sweet almond oil to help soften and soothe the skin.

And the final step is moisturiser with a hint of fake tan, I have just been sent the Isle of Paradise tanning drops which you add to your moisturiser to wake up with glowing skin. I love these as they are not to over powering, they make your skin look naturally sun-kissed over night.

What are you favourite skincare products at the minute?

My top 5 Ordinary products

Beauty

For well over as year now I have been using a lot of The Ordinary in my skincare routine, I love how inexpensive these products are yet they contain loads of really great ingredients which are great for looking after your skin. I have tried quite the selection from them, but I have narrowed it all down to my top 5.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyalurnonic acid is a humectant, this means that it keeps the skin looking plump and hydrated which helps slow down the anti-aging process. I don’t use this every night, just when my skin feels like it needs an extra boost. The fact that this is a pretty effective product but only costs £6 means it should be a staple in everyone’s routine!

Argireline Solution

This solution claims to improve the appearance of fine lines and I’m pretty sure it does, although this solution is one that I do tend to forget about as I tend to use stronger serums, but when I do use this regularly I can notice a difference on my forehead lines, they become less obvious with regular use and I feel so much better about my skin. From what I have read online, argireline works but limiting the muscle movements (like Botox) to restrict facial expressions which cause wrinkles.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid is a ‘high potent antioxidant’, it works like a chemical peel, removing dead skin cells and repairing skin damage by restoring vitamin e and c. It also works well as an anti-imflamatory reducing redness and in turn creating an even skin tone. I use this once or twice a week, especially when I have been having a bad skin day. This has got to be one of my favourite items, when I apply this my skin has a slight burning sensation, which should not be a good sign, but I feel like it is working and doing its job!

Lactic Acid

Lactic Acid is a mild exfoliatant which helps reduce acne breakouts and reduce the signs of ageing. Lactic Acid works to exfoliate your skin and remove the build up of dead skin cells, The Ordinary website says you can use this daily, I personally wouldn’t as I think it can be quite harsh on your skin and I’m worried about my skin reacting badly to it. I use this up to two times a week making sure I’ve left a day in-between this and the Alpha Lipoic Acid.

High-Adherence Silicone Primer

This primer is my absolute go to, this is currently my third tube of this because I use it every time I do my make up, in my eyes this is just as good at Benefit Porefessional primer. It applies so nicely to my skin, leaves it feeling really soft and even and foundation just glides on! For less that £4 it really is a steel!

The worst part about The Ordinary is that the products are so hard to get a hold off, I like to buy them all in one place but most the time half of what I need is out of stock so it has been a long time since I have placed an order. My biggest tip would be to buy in bulk if you find something which you love, that way you will always have back ups!

What products have you tried from The Ordinary?

October Obsessions

Beauty

November is here, how crazy fast is this year going! Next month is December! Christmas! I’m already planning my blogmas content as I kinda failed blogtober this year after 20 posts I just stopped!

So here are Octobers favourites…

I think this face wash from Philosophy was in last months favourites, but it really is that good! I love using this as my second cleanser as it has really tiny scrubby bits which make it soft on your skin but still gives a gentle exfoliation.

I have been using a lot of Real Techniques brushes recently and it’s safe to say their now my go to for my make up, but one of my favourites for the month is this contour brush. I actually use this to set under my eyes, because it’s really small but quite solid it’s prefect for swiping in my powder and then pressing under my eyes.

I have been obsessed with using this brow pencil from Tanya Burr Cosmetics, I have really been loving the dark defined but natural look it gives. It is also really easy to use and get the perfect shade, plus look at that packaging!

Brandnation very kindly sent me some products to try out from a couple of brands including Scunci which are a haircare brand. They sent me two brushes, one of which has come everywhere with me all week and these hair ties. I have thick long hair and whenever my hair is in a ponytail it falls out and doesn’t stay put, but these hair ties have so much grip that they actually stay put!

Tell me this is not a gorgeous colour! This is the shade Charlotte from Nars and this was my go to shade whilst I was in Geneva a couple of weeks ago. It’s the perfect autumnal colour!

What’s in it for me have kindly sent me another shower product to try out, this is the Body Scrub and it smells delicious (good enough to eat). It has a really good consistency of scrubby bits (so technical) and is really moisturising. You can order your own for the winter to keep you skin looking great from Harvey Nichols.

The Ordinary has fastly become my favourite skincare brand, and this month I have especially been loving the Lactic Acid. This is a mild peel which gets rid of dead skin cells and encourages new ones to keep your skin looking glowing and young.

This book came out a good few weeks ago now, maybe even a month, but I didn’t get my hands on it until the very end of October. But it still makes it into my favourites because it was a long awaited purchase, and this book is going to be amazing for the festive season (and November). It such a pretty well designed and well put together book which has everything you need to get you in the mood for Christmas. You will be seeing a lot of this over blogmas for sure!

How I look after my skin on holiday | 1 night away with hand luggage only

Beauty

Good morning!

Today’s blogpost is going to be all about how I still look after my skin on holiday and still use 90% of the same products abroad as I would t home. This post is specifically for 1 night away with hand luggage on a flight, so as your aware everything has to fit into one of those small clear plastic bags. I am huge skincare addict so it’s very important to me that I still take care of my skin on holiday!

To begin with I like to make sure I’ve packed something which is going to be able to remove all my make up so my skin is 100% clean before doing anything else. I’ve heard great things about the Eve Lom cleanser so I’ve packed that to remove everything. Next I have an old Sephora face wash tube, this is refillable, at the moment it contains a small amount of the Loreal Clay Detox wash which was left over from my last trip. After washing I like to go in with a scrub to really freshen my skin up and give it a boost. I have chosen the Lancer Face Polish as it is a really good size and the product seems to be really good aswell. This one came in my #lfbeautybox this month. And finally for the cleansing part is a face mask from The Body Shop. This is the rose plumping mask so I thought this would be ideal for tired skin, as I normally end up waking up ridiculously early and not going to bed till really late on holiday I figured it would be perfect.

Next we’re on to toners, now ofcourse I can take the big bottles I use at home, so I transfer enough for one night into a little bottle. I picked these little bottles up which I was stuck in Tenerife in the summer and they are the perfect size for liquids! I have chosen to take the Tea Tree Toner from The Body Shop just incase I have any breakouts and the Glycolic Acid Toner from The Ordinary as I use this every night anyway so I don’t want to detour away from it.

Ofcourse it’s not a real good skincare routine unless I’m suing multiple masks. So I have decided to pack one of the new Soap and Glory sheet masks, this one is to add moisture back in your skin which is perfect after a flight as your skin gets really dehydrated. And to finish of the masks I have packed the Sunflower Under Eye Patches to just add a bit more hydration there.

And now onto the final leg of the skincare, I like to use an oil almost every night so I have packed a firming face oil from Monu Skin which also came in the #lfbeautybox this month followed my an eye cream from Superdrug. And to finish up moisturiser, to save even more space on one night trips I like to use sample sized moisturisers. I have packed theee just incase one isn’t enough, but I will be using the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream initially and then I will decide if I need more moisture. The samples are the perfect size for sliding in between everything else and take up barely any room!

What are your staples in your skincare routine when your on holiday? Let me know in the comments.

New Skincare on Trial

Beauty

Happy Saturday!

Today’s post is all about new skin care products I’ve picked up recently and a little bit of a review about them.

This little selection I picked up from TK Maxx, I’ve never really had much luck in my local store, but on this day I found some bargains!

The Cream Shop This is an overnight gel mask containing hyaluranic acid. First of all, how cute is the packaging, totally cute and really looks worth the money. This costed a total of £5.99 which I think is a real bargain. I really like the whole concept of overnight masks, as their constantly giving your skin the hydration it needs to be plump and look great in the morning. So far I love this!

Philosophy This is my first item from Philosophy and I’m so impressed with it. The thing that kind off made me love even more was the price, this was only £7.99. Now this is cheap, I went in Boots afterwards and they sell it for £18! I also really liked the whole concept of this wash as it’s a scrub aswell, it has really fine particles so it feels really gentle on your skin but it also feels like it is doing good. Apparently regularly use helps buffer out fine lines and evens out the skin tone, so let’s put it to the test!

Sukin I have seen Sukin in quite a few places now so when I saw this hydration mask for £4.99 I figured now was as good as time as any to pick it up! Although I am not keen on the smell I do like the product itself!

Garnier Garnier skincare is a staple in my routine, especially the face washes. So when I saw they had a wash which was essentially micellar water I thought it would be great. This acts as a make up remover, it’s very similar to their other Skin Active washes but removes way more make up!

The Ordinary After seeing the AHA Peeling Solution appear in so many people skincare routines I decided to give it ago myself. Now this is really cool! I am going to do a whole blogpost on this as I think it’s really interesting to use.

Generation Skincare Generation Skincare were kind enough to send me one of their new serums to try out over the next few weeks. So far I have only used it a few time, but I really like it. It smells of oranges, so this makes it really pleasant to use. I also love be fact it contains so much good stuff just in one bottle which can help with hydration and clear skin!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these!

Also, don’t forget to follow me on bloglovin!

Skin Care I’m Loving Right Now

Beauty

I have been wanting to write this post for ages but I wanted to wait until I had found my favourites and knew they were working for me. My skin at the moment is just all over the place, it’s uneven, I have bumpy little spots and then I have the occasional big red spot that needs popping. But after using these products for a while I have ingredients and serums especially which are really helping improve my over skin texture and look.

To begin with, my newest addition is a charcoal Konjac Sponge. You can find these online and they are pretty cheap, they reccomend you replace them every 3 months. My one is from Grace & Stella. I use this in the mornings after I have used a cleanser to stimutate my skin and get the blood flowing around my face. It’s an exfoliating but it’s not over powering or harsh like some face exfoliators would be.

Next up I have 2 toners which I have been loving, the first is a Glycolic Acid Toner from The Ordinary. This helps even our skin tone and gentle exfoliate to allow new skin cells to form creating a healthier glow. The second one is a Tea Tree Toner from The Body Shop, I tend to use this when I’m having break outs as it helps prevent the spread of bacteria from the spots and helps drawer out the impurities to create a matte completion.

This next little section turns into an appreciation post for The Ordinary, I recently been loving their products but they have become really hard to get a hold off as everyone seems to buy everything that I want and need. First up is a serum called Argireline, I use this on my forehead and under my eyes to help reduce the appearance of lines as it helps limit muscle movement some how, but it seems to be working. Next is the Lactic Acid which has a peeling formulation, I use this once a week or every other week depending on how my skin is looking and feeling. This helps give you more of a natural glow. And lastly, if you struggle with spots or little bumps like I said at the beginning then you will want to get your hands on their Salicylic Acid, I use this over big areas on my face, not just on one spot in particular. This helps drawer out the impurities and target large areas.

And finally the last product I have been loving is a day cream from Clinique, I love how fresh and revitalised my skin feels after applying this in the mornings. It is also pretty light weight so applying make up over the top is ok to do.

What are you favourite skincare products? Are there any I should try?

Pamper Skincare Routine

Beauty

I feel like normal people would only do a pamper routine like this maybe once a month, yet here I am doing this pretty much weekly. I really like to look after my skin and try and treat it as much as I can. So here are my favourite products for a pamper night. My pamper night tends to always fall on a Saturday night which is perfect because I can really relax and take my time on my skincare allowing everything to sink in and work it’s magic.

My first step is to cleanse my face, and I am that boring person who tends to stay in on a Saturday as I’m normally so tired from work all week I need to wind down. I use a Garnier SkinActive  cleanser, I really love the Skin Active range as it’s pretty much all natural products apart from a little salicylic acid which is great for preventing spots. After cleansing I like to do a scrub to get rid of any dead skin and this one from Boots Botanics is great because it is a brightening one.

And then onto the best part, a face mask. I’m obsessed with fave mask and love trying out new ones, however this Loreal Clay mask is one of my favourites. The red clay one is a glow mask and I love how when it dries you can splash some water on and then massage it into your face like a scrub. This mask leave my skin feeling so soft and amazing.

Next up is toners, I will use a glycolic Acid Toner which is an exfoliating brightening toner and the one I have chosen is from The Ordinary. I will then follow with the Seaweed Toner from The Body Shop which helps balance your skin and stop the build up of oil.

I will then use any treatments and serums. My chosen ones for today are from The Ordinary. I am using the Zinc serum which helps with spots and the Hylaronic Acid which helps add moisture.

I then use a second face mask, but this time it is a sheet mask which is for adding extra hydration. The Garnier Moisture Bomb masks are my all time favourites so I love to buy all the different varieties they have. I leave this on for 15 minutes and then massage the excess into my skin and down my neck.

My final two steps are an oil and leave on moisture mask. As you can see I love to make sure that my skin has enough moisture and hydration. The oil I like to use is from the Vitamin E range at Superdrug, I love this because it is an antioxidant and you really feel like it’s doing good. And finally before I go to sleep I apply a generous amount of the Superdrug Vitamin E moisture mask which I leave on all night so it sinks in.

So there you have it, the most intense Skincare Routine in the world!

What are you favourite pamper products?

New In: skincare & makeup

Beauty

Hello, today I’m going to sharing some of the new products I’ve picked up!

Make Up

I have to admit over the past couple of months I did splurge a little bit on make up, I am the type of person who will pretty much only buy drugstore products and then treat myself once a year to some higher end products, so I guess this was it. I have been after Benefit Hoola Bronzer for the longest time, and since my Laguna Bronzer from Nars is running very low I thought it would be the perfect time to purchase it. A few hours after placing the Hoola order I decided to jump on the bandwagon and get Benefit Galifornia blush. Everything about this blush made me want it, the name, the packaging and omg the smell! If you havnt smelt it then you need to, I make everyone smell it when I’m doing my make up! I then ended up picking a third Benefit product in the form of their Primer, I had been using a sample of this and fell in love so once again it was a must. But I do only save this for special occasions.

As I was going on holiday and new I would need darker foundation, instead of taking 7 different foundations with me I decided to buy the foundation drops from The Body Shop. Just by adding a couple of drops to your foundation helps match your face to the rest of your body. These were a complete saviour on holiday!

And finally the newest purchase, the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Contour Stick in medium/dark. I picked this up because I love to apply a cream contour/Bronzer to my forehead pretty much all year round. The current one I am using is running out and the brand is having a problem with creating more stock so I don’t think I’ll ever get ahold of it again.

Hair

The lovely COLAB hair team saw how much I was obsessed with their dry shampoos they sent me two more! And this could not have been more perfectly timed as I was about to run out of my other one! COLAB dry shampoos are my actual favourites at the minute, just look at the packaging! The mermaid one is ofcourse my favourite!

Skincare

Now onto the biggest section of ‘where has my money gone this month’, skincare. I picked up a new sheet mask from Garnier because well, I’m kinda addicted to them and plus I just want to try everything from Garnier! I then decided this year would be the year I got a tanned face on holiday, so I purchased the Bondi Sands gradual tan for my face. I have to say, I didn’t use this that much on holiday and actually managed to get a natural tan in the end but I have it now for when I fade (and by the look of this British summer, it won’t be long). While I was shopping on Superdrug sat around by the pool on holiday I came across a little pack of the Loreal Clay Masks for only £3.50 instead of £7. The clay masks are some of my favourites so I though these little travel sized ones would be perfect!

And lastly, The Ordinary! My serums are gradually expanding and taking over a drawer of their own due to this brand. Everything is so affordable but so good for your skin! I seem to be placing an order every month, which I don’t mind as it’s a cheap order and they seem to be helping my skin out so much! I will do a separate blogpost about my collection very soon!

What’s new to your collection?
