My current morning skincare routine

Beauty

Since being in lockdown I have been able to take the time to do my morning skincare routine, on a normal work day I do not leave myself time to be able to do that and my make up. So it has been really nice for the past 8 weeks to be able to clean my skin ever morning.

However it is morning, I still don’t want to get my face completely wet so I use the Hydrating Milky Cleanser from Pixi (gifted) which gets rid of any dirt and product build up from during the night.

I then go in with the Pixi Vitamin-C Tonic (gifted) to tone and brighten. I follow this with the Boots Glow Essence which contains niacinamide which helps fight spots so it is great for me on a daily basis.

I use the Dermalogica biolumin-c eye serum (gifted) which brightens and forms the under eye area. And lastly I finish up by moisture from using the Boots Glow moisturising cream which soothes and hydrated.

My current evening skincare routine

Beauty

One of the many things I have enjoyed whilst being off is being able to take my time when doing my skincare routine, there is no rush, no where to be, no time constraints so I find it really relaxing and look forward to the end of the day when I can look after my skin.

To cleanse I have been using the Be Glow face brush (previously gifted) with the Calm Skin cleanser from Superdrug, I find these two work great together and give my skin a really good clean.

I have a bit of a mask obsession, so I don’t tend to stick to just one mask, which mask I choose depends on what my skin is doing that day. But one I have been loving and can notice great results with is the Acne Out Mask from Arkana (gifted). This is a clay mask which drys and draws all the impurities out of your skin and contains salicylic acid to fight spots.

To time I have been using the Pixi Glow Tonic with is my absolute favourite, this leaves my skin glowing as it exfoliates.

I tend to flirt between serums too, but I really love the AHA BHA PHA Miracle Serum from Some By Mi (gifted). This also works as an exfoliator to leave your skin cleaner and more radiant. When I have applied this I like to go in with my jade roller and massage my face for a few minutes.

I follow up with the Boots Glow Eye Cream and the Jane Scrivner over oil cream (gifted) which smells amazing and is bright orange to look in all the moisture.

And then it’s time to relax even more and get into bed and watch Netflix.

Boots Glow Skincare

Beauty

Did I need more skincare, no, but because it was pink and looked pretty did I have to buy it, yes! I couldn’t help myself when I saw these products on the Boots website. They are so aesthetically pleasing and if I was a skincare product I would be one of these.

One of the very amazing things about these new products from Boots is the price, looking at them you’d think they would cost a lot more than what they did. But no, they were all £4 each! What a bargain, everything was £4!

One of the main ingredients in all of these products is Niacinamide, which is great for fighting blemishes. I tend to use these products when I am having a bit of a skin outbreak and I know I can trust them to help it out.

The two staples from this range I have been using near enough daily are the Glow Essence and the Glow Eye Cream. I find them both really hydrating and they also smell really great too!

I think this is a really lovely range for Boots to come out with and I love how affordable yet nice the products all are and I think I will definitely be repurchasing these when they run out.

Skylar Scent Club | gifted

Beauty

Over the past few months I have been receiving an amazing little subscription of perfume! Perfume is something which I wear every day and I especially like to take it when I go on holiday. Skylar Scent Club is an amazing little club which send out a travel sized roller ball each month. Each month is such a unique scent and perfect for the month, I have been loving the summer scents especially!

What I also love about the scents is the packaging, every bottle just looks so cute and perfect making it a wonderful accessory to keep in your handbag. As you can see I took all three of my bottles on holiday with me because, why not?

I also find that because they are roller balls and not sprays they last so much longer which is great.

A Spa Break with Bannatynes {gifted}

Travel

At the beginning of the week I had pleasure of venturing down to Hastings, East Sussex for an overnight spa break which was very kindly gifted by Bannatynes.
I decided to take one of my best friends as we had not been on holiday together in a really long time.

When we arrived at the hotel, it was pretty much everything I was expecting. A big country style house set in the middle huge green grounds, it truly felt like we were on holiday.

The spa is located a short 2 minute walk down the driveway, which we headed to straight away after we had checked in and seen our room. The room was extremely spacious and clean and had really quirky features. The highlight for me was the big bath room and bath tub!

In the spa we were given a little tour of the facilities and were made to feel really welcome. We headed straight to the Jacuzzi as it was empty as I wanted to get some photos in there before it got busy, so we timed it perfectly.

After being outside for a while we decided to try out the steam room and the indoor Jacuzzi before heading back to the room to get ready for dinner that evening.

Before dinner we headed back down to the gardens out the back of the hotel to take some photos, and ordered a cocktail from the bar for some more photos.

The gifted experience included a two course meal, as a really fussy eater I was a little bit concerned about not liking enough of the food, but I can safely say I liked it all. For started I had the watercress soup, followed by chicken in gravy with potatoes and cabbage.

On the second day we woke up nice and early to the sun streaming into our room making it feel like a sauna. We headed down to breakfast, it was buffet style with everything you could of wanted along with made to order specials.

Before driving to Hastings beach we had our treatments in the spa, we both chose to have facials. This was my first facial so I was a little bit anxious about having it as I was just thinking of all the horrible things the person would say about my skin. However, this was not the case. The lady who did the facial was really nice, and I just laid back and relaxed.

Thank you to Bannatynes for giving us this amazing opportunity and allowing us to come and stay!

Superdrug’s Hot Cloth Cleanser

Beauty

Whilst I was having a browse in Superdrug I came across their own brand of skincare, I’m all up for trying out a cheaper version of more expensive brands so I decided to pick up the hot cloth cleanser which is a dupe for Liz Earl Hot Cloth Cleanser. I have used a sample sized of the Liz Earl in the past, I liked it, but not enough to warrant spending £16 on a product just remove make up.

The Hot Cloth Cleanser from Superdrug was less than £3, I think normally its £6, but there is normally a deal or two on in there.
The cleanser contains kiwi and mulberry to revive skin’s radiance and even out skin tone, the coco butter melts into the skin and removes the make up.

I love using this every night to remove my make up, I love the fact you can massage it into your skin and actively see the makeup melting away. I prefer using this to a make up wipe as I find it removes make up a lot more efficiently. Once the formula is massages into your skin, rinse the cloth under warm water and gently wipe away your make up. This cloth is very quick drying which I like as I don’t have to wait hours for it dry so I can pack it away.

So, overall I love this version of hot cloth cleanser, I love the smell, I love how well it removes make up and I love the price. I will definitely be repurchasing a few more bottles of this whilst it is on offer.

The ultimate glow from Pixi Beauty

Beauty

On Christmas Eve this amazing surprise arrived from Pixi Beauty, I had no idea it was on its way and I had no idea that I was even worthy of receiving it! But this package in itself is a great way to finish the year off!

The Pixi Glow Tonic has been my go to toner for a couple of years now, I have experimented with other glycolic timers but I always come back to this one. It’s very gentle on your skin but you can definitely noticed the difference when you use it. I find it very good to use when I am having a bad breakout as exfoliates the skin and dries up my spots.

This is a massive 200ml of the toner, which is also personalised! I have never had a skincare or make or product with my name of it before so this is pretty out of this world. I am beyond grateful for this huge bottle of glorious glow and cannot wait to use it throughout 2019.

I want to say a huge thank you to Pixi Beauty for sending me this xx

Starting to scrapbook

Beauty

When I was growing up I always loved to scrapbook and make photo albums of ALL my photos, but along the way I stopped, I stopped being creative and I stopped printing my photos off as I pretty much only needed photos online digitally. This being said I figured towards the end of 2018 I wanted to start scrapbooking and having a place where I could see my photos other than on facebook or instagram.

For Christmas I asked for the HP Sprocket which is a phone printer. It prints out really tiny cute photos which remind me of polaroids. I figured this would be a different way to have my photos displayed, although the paper does work out a little on the expensive side. I also decided to get some photos printed in different sizes from Boots.

I found some really nice scrapbooks from Wilkinsons for only £1.50, so I bought 7 of them! I really love the colours of the front and the size of them are pretty perfect, plenty of room to fit in all my photos.

I then did a bit of Pinterest research and found some other cute scrapbook ideas, I found people using watercolours to make cute colourful backgrounds, so I bought my own from Amazon.

I also liked the idea of using pastel coloured highlighters to add a pop of colour and then write headings over the top.

To add a bit more colour to the pages I found a book full of different patterned paper to create some borders.

Let me know if there are any other cute ways to decorate a scrapbook xx

January Goals

Beauty

I thought I would start a little series on my blog with goals for each month, I figured this would be a good way to give myself things to aim for and try and achieve.

Stop number watching

Number watching on Instagram is my number one thing I seem to have an unhealthy obsession over, I am constantly checking how many likes and followers I have, and I need to stop it! So my aim for January is to decrease it, and not to worry about how many likes photos has, as long as I like the photo I’ve uploaded, who cares?

Plan

As January is a bit of a slow month with regards to getting out and doing stuff, I want to plan blog content and start to plan some trips for their year. That being said I do have a trip to Amsterdam coming up, but I need more!

Scrapbook

I have written a whole blog post about starting to scrapbook and plan on doing a few more whilst I get creative, but I really want to try and stay up to date with my 2019 scrapbook as-well as complete the 2018 one!

Comment more & have captions

Over the past year on Instagram I’ve been so bad at responding to comments and commenting on others peoples posts. So from now on I will respond to all comments on my posts and comment on at least one persons post each day.

I also got into a bad habit of just uploading a photo without saying anything, I’d just use an emoji or a basic title. From January 1st I will actually write something in my caption, be it relevant to the photo or not!

Three Ways I’ve Changed My Skincare Routine

Beauty

1.

The first way I have changed my skincare routine is by adding a cleansing brush, the one I have recently been obsessed with is from Magnitone*. I love using this twice a day to completely cleanse my skin, afterwards my skin feels so soft and refreshed. I have found that this has helped greatly with the texture and tone of my skin, and in the most part any scaring from old spots has started to clear up.

2.

Next up, I have found that using a liquid exfoliator has benefited my skin hugely. I have been using three exfoliating products, the first being Pixi Glow Tonic* which is a toner which contain Glycolic Acid which gently exfoliates the skin to leave it glowing. I use this every night after cleansing and masking.
Another product which is great at renewing your skin is The Body Shop Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel, massage this into to a dry face and your left with loads of little clumps which supposedly is dead skin cells.
And lastly, the Lactic Acid from The Ordinary is a superficial peeling formula, I really find this helps my skin when I am having bad breakouts as it breaks them down and dries them out.

3.

Lastly, I have stopped using ‘anti-aging’ moisturisers and started using moisturisers which are more suitable for my skin type, which currently is combination with fair few breakouts. My two top moisturisers for helping my current skin are the Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream* and Simple Anti Blemish Moisturiser. These two moisturisers have helped my skin improve a lot as I am giving my skin what it needs currently.

Winter Beauty Holiday Staples

Beauty

Everyone (including myself) always gets so carried away with holiday staples for the summer, but as I am heading to Bruges next weekend I thought I would share some of my beauty staples I will be taking with me to keep my skin in good condition.

Lip Balm

Lip balm is a necessity no matter what the weather, and my go to is Glossier Balm Dot Com, I find this so thick and hydrating and it either apply it before lipstick so it hydrates my lips or add it after lipstick to create a more glossier effect.

Red Lip

A red lip is an essential, for this 2 day trip I have packed 3 different shade of red lipstick which may seem a little overboard, but i just love a red lip and want to have options. I just love how a red lip can instantly revive a makeup look and you can go from looking tired and ready for bed to ready for dinner and cocktails.

Hydrating Moisturiser

When travelling it is so important to have a realy good hydrating moisturiser to apply before bed to keep your skin in tip top condition. My absolute favourite for travelling is Glossier Moon Mask, I like to apply this as my evening moisturiser instead of a mask.

An SPF

Even though its winter it is still highly important to apply an SPF to your face as the sun can still do damage. A lot of the time I incorporate this into my routine by using a Primer or Foundation with SPF in. The primer I use is by Dermalogica SPF 30 and the Foundation is Mac Studio Fix SPF 15.
