My hair care routine

Beauty

Hair care is not something which I take too seriously, I would much rather spend my money on skincare, than my hair. Luckily for me brands like Percy & Reed and ESalon keep my hair looking good. I am very lucky to be able to say all these products are gifted and sent for me to try out.

I use the Percy & Reed shampoo and conditioner , the packaging is just so luxurious and they smell amazing so it’s always lovely being able to use them. I have very long thick hair, so washing my hair is the least favourite part of my beauty routine, I tend to only wash it about two times a week which is more than enough for me. Having great products make washing my hair so much nicer.

After I have washed and conditioned my hair I bung it up in a towel and leave it dry as much as it can do before attempting to brush it. Before I brush I apply some of the ESalon Leave in Conditioner which helps add some more moisture to my hair and makes it easier to tackle.
The brushing is the worst part, no matter, my hair gets extremely knotty! I use either my Wet Brush or Tangle Teezer to battle the millions of knots.
After I have brushed it out, I like to apply a couple of pumps of the ESalon oil, just to help smooth out the ends and prevent any breakages.

Unless I am going out and need my hair to be styled a certain way I just let my hair dry naturally, although recently I have been loving curling it!

Once my hair is dry, the morning after the wash, I like to add in some of the Percy & Reed Wonder Balm, this acts as another leave in conditioner and helps tame it through the day. If my hair is looking a bit on the dull side, then I LOVE adding the shine & fragrance spray from Percy & Reed, this adds shine and makes it smell amazing, which is also great for when you havn’t washed your hair.

Spring Evening Skincare Routine

Beauty

To start my skincare routine off every evening, I use Dermalogica Pre Cleanse*, this is an oil which you massage into dry skin and it removes pretty much all your make up, including waterproof mascara! I then use the Special Cleansing Gel* to cleanse my face, this contains lots of great skin ingredients and I find this especially good helping with my spots. The third step to cleansing is using the Daily Microfoliant*, this contains little rice granules and gently exfoliates your skin, removing all the bad stuff.

Masking is the next step, I have a separate blogpost going up of my favourite masks, but for todays post I have picked two from Pixi Beauty which I like to use a duo. I apply the Peel & Polish* first and massage that in before I rinse it off, then I apply the Glow Mud Mask* which helps with blemishes.

I use the Pixi Glow Tonic* toner every night with out fail, this is so good as another exfoliation step, and making my skin feel super fresh and glowy.

On the nights when I’m feeling extra bougie I like to use the Pixi DetoxifEYE* eye patches along with the Glycolic Boost* sheet mask.

To add in extra hydration and help with acne scaring I use two pumps of Aloe Vera Gel*, I find this really refreshing and cooling on my skin especially in the summer. Under my eyes I apply the Freshly Cosmetics Eye Serum* followed by the Freshly Cosmetics Golden Radiance Oil*.

And finally, I apply Pixi Beauty Rose Ceramide Cream* just before I go to sleep to lock in all the moisture.

What’s in my travel makeup bag | ft The Flat Lay Co {gifted}

Beauty

Todays post is all about the make up I am taking with me to Genoa, featuring the beautiful Flat Lay Co makeup bag*. This was sent to me a little while ago and I have been waiting patiently to be able to use it, and I figured this short trip would be perfect. I was a bit sceptical about whether all my make up would fit, but it actually did. This is my second Flat Lay Co bag, they are so handy when it comes to travelling as it’s so easy to lay all your make up out and not worry about getting it on the white hotel bed sheets.

You can check out their website here or on Asos.

I decided for this trip that I would try and pack light and only take what I am going to use, so I think I have in the main part done so.

I have picked the Dermalogica Primer* as this is my favourite primer that own right now, it is very similar to Benefit Porefessional, but contains SPF making it perfect for holidays.

As for foundation I decided to stick with Mac Studio Fix as I know this lasts a long time and also contains SPF making it ideal for sunny weather. A newer concealer I am taking is from Thin Lizzy*, this was sent to me a while back and I was obsessed with thier foudnation, so I’m hoping I will feel the same about the concealer. This concealer is also good for under the eyes and on areas which need more coverage.

The cream bronzer I am packing is from Primark, it was only £2.50 and I needed a new one as I had run out of my favourite one. Although this one is a little bit too dark for me on a daily basis, I’m hoping that once I’ve tanned it will match my body pretty well.

To set my face I will be using the MUA Cosmetics loose powder in translucent, I use this on a daily basis and keeps my face looking pretty matte all day long. To bronze I will be using Hoola Bronzer from Benefit as this is my go to holiday bronzer as it’s on the more intense darker side.

To add some colour to my cheeks I have packed the Zoella x Colourpop brush as this is a really pretty pink shade. And then to finish off my face make up I have chosen Glossier Haloscope in Quartz as my highlighter as this gives a lovely dewy finish.

For mascara I have chosen to take the Natural Collection waterproof mascara, I chose to go with a waterproof one just so it will last longer in the heat and not sweat off. For my eye shadow I have opted for the Urban Decay Aphrodisiac palette and a Zoella x Colourpop liquid shadow in OG.

To define my brows I have packed my new eye brow hd pencil from Sainsbury’s which I am pretty obsessed with, and Loreal Brow Plumper to set them in place.

Finally, for my lips I have packed YSL 201, MAC Viva Glam 2 and MAC Fashion Legacy as I like to go for a very bold bright lip on holiday.

What’s in my travel skincare bag

Beauty

Over the Easter Holiday I am taking a quick trip to Genoa in Italy, I will only be taking carry on baggage so I have narrowed down my skincare into this lovely travel toiletry bag from Pixi*.

In the top section I have included 3 masks, 2 sheet masks and one liquid mask. I chose to pack the Pixi Glow Mud Mask* as I figured this one will be the most helpful incase I get breakouts whilst away. I then have packed two sheets masks, one from Pixi* and one from Soap and Glory. These will be really helpful to my skin both nights I am away as they will provide my skin with extra hydration, especially after flying.

As for the rest of my skincare I have been really fortunate and been sent loads of Dermalogica minis which are the perfect size for traveling. I use Dermalogica on a daily basis, so it’s really nice to be able to take them on holiday with me as well to keep to a routine. I have packed the Pre Cleanse, Special Ceansing Gel and Microfoliant* as these are my night time staples. I have then been able to decant some of my larger Pixi Glow Tonix* into a smaller bottle so I can still use my regular toner. And then for the creams and serums, I have just picked out a selection from Dermalogica* which I will try out over there.

Trying out Natural Collection Makeup

Beauty

I think we can all fall into the hype of only using certain brands, or brands which we see all over the internet, but recently I’ve started lowering the price point of my makeup, and seeing if the cheaper versions are as good as the more expensive. So today I will be sharing my opinions on Natural Collection which can be bought at Boots, everything in their line is super affordable and everything is under £3. I decided to try out a waterproof mascara, and two highlighters.

I picked up this mascara as it was waterproof and I needed a new waterproof one for work, I think the packaging is super cute and I love the design. I wasn’t expecting a lot from it as it’s really cheap and I initially was not very impressed with the brush, I like a more rounder fluffy brush. But I am happy to say that this brush applied the mascara so well, it was really easy to build up and create volume and length without it going clumpy!

Next up, I saw these highlighter sticks, I LOVE the Glossier Haloscope, so I was hoping I would be able to find a cheap dupe and be happy. This is in the shade Coral Glow, the colour instantly reminds me of Nars Orgasm which is great! I feel like this is much more of a blush shade, rather than a highlighter, but I will experiment more with it as a highlighter in the summer once I have more of a tan.
The product blends really easy and it’s really easy to build up to create a more vibrant shade. As a highlighter, not really my thing, but as a blush, it’s perfect.

The second highlighter I picked up was in the shade Rose Glow, this is much more a icy cooler tone, which does remind me of Haloscope! It is much more like a highlighter than the pinky shade, it blends really well and has an amazing sheen to it!

I would say Natural Collection Makeup is worth the money, it’s worth trying to see what products you can switch out and how to save a little bit of money!

Dermalogica |Skinfluencer {gifted}

Beauty

As a Dermalogica ‘Skinfluencer’ I am so lucky to receive amazing skincare which actually works on with my skin. I happened to upload an instagram story saying how I’d ran out of the Daily Microfoliant and Dermalogica messaged saying they would send me a new one, along with everything I received in my initial parcel.

I love using Dermalogica so much, I truly feel it is one of the only brands which actively helps my skin and prevents breakouts. I do use other skincare, but in the evenings I religiously stick to the Pre Cleanse, Cleanser and Microfoliant and I this has really helped.

Their primer is actually my favourite primer of all time, I used to love Benefit Porefessional, but the Dermalogica one has the same texture, but contains SPF, therefore making it a little bit better dare I say.

Dermalogica have also just released their new Prisma Protect SPF 30 daily moisturiser which seems amazing, I have yet to try it out as I am saving it for my summer holiday as I like to be bougie on holiday with expensive brands.

Assome! Bum Toner {gifted}

Beauty

I was recently contacted by the brand ASSOME! and asked if I wanted to try out their Ultrasonic Massager, I decided it would be a good idea with a few holidays coming up, and there was no harm in trying.

They claim “ASSOME! Ultrasonic Massager. It combines 3 cutting edge technologies – LED, radiofrequency and ultrasonic waves to fight cellulite and help lift and firm your booty in the comfort of your home”

So I am super excited to give it a go over the next three months and report back.

The kit retails for around £150, as it’s quite pricey I’m expecting to see results! I am going to use the device 3 times a week for the next three months, I have a ‘before’ photo so I can compare it at the end of the three months.

The kit comes with a gel, and 3 different serums (although I seem to have got a double of one). The kit online says this is a “one month supply”, so I am intrigued to see that after I’ve used up all the products will the device still be as effective?

So I shall see you back here in three months time and let you know how I got on!

New in: Freshly Cosmetics {gifted}

Beauty

Today I will be sharing a skincare brand that I really love, Freshly Cosmetics. Over the past year they have gifted me so many of their amazing products and so I thought I would share the most recent products from them.

They sent over a beautiful box which contained three of their staples for radiant skin, it contained an oil, eye serum and face serum.
I have started using the oil in my skincare routine nightly and love it, it really hydrates my skin. As it contains oils which help repair the skin, it is working wonders on my scars from spots!
I have also been using the eye serum, I apply this before the oil and allow time to sink in. I find it really refreshing and a great way to give your eye area a little massage before bed.
And lastly, a top up of the radiance serum. This serum comes out blue, and it sits on your face all night working its magic until you wash it off the next day.

And lastly, they have just launched a cleanser which is by far one of the cutest bottles I’ve seen. It smells amazing and is so gentle on your skin, I particularly like using this one in the morning just to refresh my skin.

New Hair Products | ESALON {gifted}

Beauty

I have recently just been gifted all these lovely hair products, as someone who refuses to spend money on their hair and would much rather spend money on skincare, I really am excited to give these a go.

At £13 a bottle for the shampoo and conditioner I can definitely say this is the most luxury product my hair has had, and probably will have.

My hair is pretty ok most the time, but occasionally it does get a bit dry, so the moisture shampoo and conditioner will be great for locking in the moisture, especially in the hotter months.

I am a huge lover of leave in conditioner, this one provides moisture and stops frizz all day long, another product perfect for the summer. Along with the leave in conditioner, I was also sent some hair oil, I love oil in the summer, when I’m on holiday and I’m doing minimal hair styling, it works so perfectly to tame my hair and make it look healthy.

You can check out their website here to get products suitable to your hair.

jecca black. sculpt & soften palette

Beauty

I was very kindly sent the new Sculpt and Soften palette from Jecca. They are a brand who does not just aim makeup at females, instead they aim it for anyone which I think is a really great idea. The palette is also vegan and cruelty free.

The sculpt palette contains a cream highlighter which is the perfect shade for me, it is really creamy and light weight and will be perfect for my under eye area.

The contour shade is a lovely rich bronze shade, I use cream bronzers like this everyday anyway so this is the perfect addition to my collection.

I really like how compact the palette is as it will be ideal for travelling.

You can pick up your own palette here

New In Beauty: Bee Good Cleanser

Beauty

This past week has been such an amazing week for PR packages, I have never received so much before in just one week, so I thought I would start sharing what I have been sent. So I will start with the most recent bit of mail from Bee Good. This brand is completely new to and omg, its’s so cute! The whole concept behind the brand is amazing, they are all about supporting the countryside and they give a share of their profits to bee keeping!

I am a huge lover of cream cleansers as I love how softly they remove make up. The cleanser comes with a cloth. To remove make up it works by massaging it into dry skin and then using the damp cloth to wipe away makeup.

The cleanser contains British honey, propolis and beeswax along with naturally active botanicals and potent plant oils.

The cleanser is really gentle on the skin and smells really lovely!

Another amazing this about this package is that they have included a little envelope of seeds to scatter for the bees which I think is such a lovely idea!

And not to mention they sent me chocolate! But look how cute this is! It has bee’s on it, and it was especially made for Bee Good by New Forest Chocolates.

Positive changes to help with mental wellbeing

lifestyle

Todays post is all about those little positive changes we all need to make in order to feel better about the day ahead.

Getting up earlier

From now until the Easter holidays I am challenging myself to get up earlier, to have more time to relax before starting my day, to be able to wash my face and have a good breakfast.

Fresh Flowers

I have decided that starting from February payday, I shall buy myself a bunch of flowers each week. I think this will help add a pop of colour to my room, and brighten up my day, and they also look cute in photos.

Grow some plants

Now that spring and summer are approaching, I want to start a little herb potted garden. I plan to buy some basil, mint and anything else Asda stocks and create a little garden, in my garden to grow these plants. These will also be a great addition to drinks and food so that’s an added bonus.

Find a new hobby

I struggle a lot in the winter, but as summer starts approaching I do get a more positive outlook on life, that being said I do find it very tedious finishing work at the same time everyday and then having the whole evening free. I have decided to start baking, my aim was to bake once every weekend, but I also want to bake one night a week too to keep me occupied.

Pamper time

Of course no me time is complete without a pamper session. My aim is to have a full head to toe pamper once a week, more than likely on a Sunday afternoon to get myself ready for work again. Im talking, hair mask, face mask, gel nails and fake tan, the lot.
